This tutorial is what I'm using for my new graphic novel I'm starting: SYNTHESIS. Take a look at it in my user profile to see this kind of half-toning used on finished pages!

This tutorial is all about getting control over the halftone patterns on a page intended for printing and screen viewing. The settings outlined in the tutorial help you define a specific look, as laser printers by default do not halftone, but instead apply a dot-matrix dither that frankly just doesn't cut it.

This is really only a tutorial on how to create a printable and authentic halftone screen, not Manga Screen Tones. Manga Screen Tones usually have a lot of pre-fabricated patterns and designs [such as those incredibly cliche yet popular glowing feathers] that this tutorial won't help you create. Besides, things are always better when you create them yourself! And thats what this is designed to help you with.

Important Note About DPI Setting: The parameters outlined in the tutorial are intended for 600DPI documents. If you're using 300DPI, you may have to half the parameters to get the same sized halftone patterns as the tutorial.
My recommendation is to use 600DPI if you intend on making a comic -- 600DPI documents are a good flexible size!
