| User: bincola | | | | This story means a lot to me, my father was a abusive drunk to me and my mum when I was young, not touchy feely abusive but yelling and hitting kind, it took a lot for it to stop and people didn't believe me cos my mum tried to protect him form others and me from him. He now doesn't drink and has never laid a hand on my step mum or half siblings. Your story is inspired and touches many hard hitting subjects, bravo. -Posted on Oct 27, 2009 | | User: JinxMinx | | 5 | | You really do touch on some strong subjects in your comic. But I think you do a very good job at presenting it. -Posted on Oct 26, 2009 | | User: Arnette | | 5 | | I love the scenario, never though you will include child abuse to that extend. -Posted on Oct 26, 2009 | | User: Foxy_Kitty_Girl | | 5 | | Wow, Gerry's mum sure has a burden to carry... -Posted on Oct 25, 2009 | | User: Ulrika | | 5 | | A very powerful page. I wonder if Sarah will tell Stacey about it... -Posted on Oct 25, 2009 | | User: kanoka | | 5 | | Ah This page really got to me I'm just replaying the entire story and thinking on it all. There aren't words to describ my thoughts, other then it is thought provoking. Keep up the beautiful work can't wait to see what happens next. -Posted on Oct 25, 2009 | | User: Lopriest | | 5 | | Great page! -Posted on Oct 25, 2009 | | User: Damoinion | | 4 | | Sadness on so many different levels -Posted on Oct 25, 2009 | | User: taradaga | | 5 | | Beautiful page. -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: clomle44 | | | | I have many comments... but none of them feel appropriate. Sky, you should be bloody proud of yourself for making SS such a brilliant comic.
Lum xoxo -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: tommym | | | Dear Sky ,
So true how the actions of one evil man can chain reaction outwards to others.
@@ Megan Rose, True Villains? I can easily go on a one thousand word rant here! Think of all the men who rape! all the men who kill! The men who start wars and send millions to their deaths. Nothing on this planet excedes The Violence That Men Do!
Tommy -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: dontworrybehappy | | 5 | there are so many children that needs help and so few social workers, ad that the goverment give the institution so little money and importance.
love the page, is so strong!!!! -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: dragonrider | | 5 | | Adults know the answers or where to find the answers, we just don't pay attention to the mistakes our parents made and make the same ones and worse. Abuse is a self repeating cycle. Without help Stacy will end up with a man who will use and abuse her and her child the same as her mother did. -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: megan_rose | | | | I love how well-rounded ALL of your characters are. There are antagonists, but not villains, because there aren't a lot of true villains in the world. -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: Stan Kuri | | 5 | | I love your writing. I know social workers have it rough, but just like any work where you have to deal with things like that day to day, I know some start to disassociate themselves with each case. And sometimes, they leads to them not caring, which is sad, but it happens. Also, seeing the worst of humanity can make a person bitter towards the world too. Just like everything, though, it varies person to person. -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: DAJB | | 5 | That Gerry, eh? If she's not thinking of poisoning horses, she's planning to eat them!
;-)
Seriously, another lovely page. Easy to understand the social worker's predicament but still not so easy to forgive. Maybe your next page could find a way to excuse bankers' bonuses?
;-) -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: LadyJenarius | | 5 | | Beautiful work and strong emotions as always. I think we tend to forget that even just one person can affect the lives of many. Something to remember as we go through our days. -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: artie4 | | 5 | I'm in total agreement with Lilu, extremely strong page! Great comic as usual.
Artie -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: Emily Elizabeth | | 5 | Really loved this page. D: Its so true, too, that one action of one selfish person can cause a whole chain reaction of misery and pain. Also most people grow up start to realize that adults aren't always the strong people who'll pick you up when you're down, and its quite a tough thing to deal with!
Very powerful page. I love the way you address meaningful topics in such a sensitive, delicate and thoughtful way. -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: Little Swan | | 5 | My God, that car looks amazing!
Your writing is absolutely amazing... I say it all the time, but I mean it.
I can really empathize with Gerry's mum... social workers really do get crap press and have a bad reputation with the public for no reason.
Sarah will feel bad, but it might be good for Gerry's mum that she was able to get all of that out.
The point at the end is right, too, one man's selfishness, coruptness and heinousness caused a lot of pain, for a lot of people, including the other girls he attacked and the people that knew them too.
I hope Sarah does manage to pass the apology on to Stacey, and that Stacey accepts, and that she's able to break it to Gerry too.
Your colouring and artwork is fantastic, and gets better every time!
Looking forward to seeing Janey and Sarah again soon too! -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 | | User: lilu | | 5 | | i'm speechless, this is such a strong page! -Posted on Oct 24, 2009 |
