#OOPS

Yeah, sorry about this. I have no excuses. I just needed to moan a bit more about how long and tiring my day was.

To be honest, I love my work - it's my sport of choice, working with the best people in the world (that's the children, by the way, even if they are little nightmares on legs) and it pays incredibly well!

For trampolining coaching, I get paid between £10 and £15 per hour, depending on where I work. For US readers, £10 is roughly $20. I think.

Anyway, whatever the exchange rate, it's bloody good money.

It's just struck me that I could be using this time to prepare #100. Incidentally, not doing #100 has meant that I now have found the best dialogue to put into the strip. I advise you all to watch Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (www.doctorhorrible.com).

#99 So what if you can see, the dark inside of me...

Page title comes from the emo-song 'Animal I have Become' by Three Days Grace (yeah, okay, so I like some of the songs by an emo band... to be honest, I love darker-side style songs and themes, which is kinda weird since I have this very optimistic view of human nature.)

I think that, deep down, we all love a really really really REALLY evil villain, the sort of villain who is completely psychotic and murderous, because it allows us to dehumanise them and make them the sort of creature which only exists in fairytales and stories such as this. Somewhere inside of us, we all have the capacity to become those villains we love to watch and read about. By creating those characters, we have a chance to pretend that their mentality doesn't and can't ever exist inside up, in some perverse way deceiving us about the nature of ourselves and making us feel all the better for it.

What? I can be darkly philosophical AND have optimism for the human race!

Oh, next week we reach triple figures! And the second of the hand-drawn pieces!

#98 I've had it with this motherf***ing snake in this motherf***ing portal!

I've been wanting Snake (not an original name, I know) to do something more than be snaky and fiery for a while now, but since his sprite has its mouth open all the time it's a bit restricting, and I don't have the time to remake the sprite properly.

In other news, 'dumbness' is a matter of perspective. Think about it.

#97 It's chavving time!

For those of you who don't know (or can't remember) what a chav is, check the back issues. There's a whole rant about that horrendous blight on our society. As I said last week, jokes are not the forte of this comic, but I hope that it at least brings smiles.

#96 That's right! All three Mecha sprites in one page!

Did you think I'd forgotten lil' Mecha?! Never! I realised that Mecha had been stuck in the box I call 'Sonic Sprites' for far too long and that it was time to get him out again. This is for Mecha fans everywhere (those of you that exist anyway)!

For those of you who don't understand the relevance of the text-box complaining about 'problems with my lifestyle', you should all read/listen to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (no, not the film, the film is crap compared to the rest of the franchise - the smiles are there but they are invisible dots on invisible dots, infinitely small compared to the original series).

Also, we are now into the last five issues of this Comicular Cycle (CC for short). By my logic, a CC lasts for 100 storyline issues, so fillers etc. are not included. Plus, I can't remember the exact date that the very first SDC went up (by 'very first' I mean the original first page with the purple vortex background - a blast from the past for those of you who have been with us the whole ride). I know that celebrating 100ths and 50ths is a bit egotistical in some respects, but celebrating the years is a tad pointless for me since I tend to make several strips at a time, regardless of the week, and them stick them in the roster.

Anyway, I guarantee some great strips coming up: visually and storyline wise (i'll be honest, the jokes of this comic leave much to be desired; my sense of humour is far more slapstick which gets boring to do in a sprite comic.

Also, get ready for the next hand-drawn special for page 100!
