1673 - Parley

Translation For Pirates: In honor o' Talk Like A Pirate Day, I've decided t' make a pirate-themed comic.

I'm sure this comic is inaccurate, primarily because the captain has a hook and a peg-leg, and the first mate is wearing very stripey clothes... but I'm kinda lazy. At least he didn't walk the plank.

I did do SOME research though. 1673 is when Sir Henry Morgan was still sailing the seas.

1963 - Doctor Wha?

Gah, so few Time Hobo updates lately. Please accept this apology, in the form of a new comic - IN COLOR!

I've actually had this idea rattling around in my head for a few days, as I've been spending a lot of my time watching Doctor Who. I feel I owe it to myself as a geek to watch the entire series - starting with the First Doctor and working my way up.

I'm up to the Fifth Doctor, at about 1984 now. Season 21, yep.

...The series went on a LONG TIME.

For this page, I did a lot of Google searchings for the TARDIS, as well as the original police boxes upon which it was designed. I think I did a pretty good job, given how many different variations it's taken over the years. Plus, I gave our loveable hobo a jacket.

It's cold in England.

1776 - Independence Day

Okay, I admit, I'm late on this. But so is everyone else. In all fact, not everyone signed the Declaration of Independence at the time - as we were more-or-less ALREADY at war, and everyone was pretty scattered and had to come in at various times to sign the darn thing. Hooray for historical accuracy at it blandest!

That said, this was pretty tricky. I found a painting of the alleged signing of the Declaration, and... though I have no idea if that's even the right room or not... I used that and basically edited everybody out. Along with my own little touch of... well, bad artistry.

Poor Hobo. He was hoping to be a part of history.

1509 - Spanish Inquiry

"I'm shorry, I dun speak Spanish!"

(I'm going to hell, aren't I?)

I actually had a much more gruesome idea of our little homeless friend popping into an Iron Maiden from his journeys. That was a bit dark, and I didn't want to put him in any major danger like that (my other characters get enough of it), so I made it like this.

I did a brief Wikipedia search of the Inquisition online, which helped for the date (the Spanish Inquisition itself lasted a few hundred years, so I picked a date at semi-random within that time period). I also checked the images on Wikipedia for character designs in the Inquisition.

The Time Hobo is pretty easy to draw in a rushed doodle. I love drawing him, he's one of few characters I draw like that nowadays.

70 Million BC - Cretaceous Park

So, I finally broke down and did it. I thought about it for a long time, and finally I decided, "Screw it, I'll do it."

I bring you, Time Hobo. It was a wacky idea, and I don't really take it very seriously, so the comics will be updated sporadically as I get new ideas. There is no plot (unlike Melody & Macabre, and... arguably, EpicSaga), and they're one-shot images.

Originally, I had a deep-rooted plot, where he was once a brilliant scientist who lost his family and developed his time travel device, then in a mistake involving the paradox loop of saving them (thus causing him to not need to make it in the first place), he lost his mind. Oh, and his family.

Unfortuantely, I wanted this to be a very lighthearted series involving an odd little homeless fellow simply just jumping around and having adventures in time, riding a timeline like a train.

I presume he picked up the watch in the trash at a Timex research facility, where such a scientist did all that stuff I just mentioned, then realized it was useless.

At any rate, hooray! First comic! It's not that great, but these are really just quick sketches, and partially intended for him to have been the one drawing. Which I use as my explanation for my own sucky art. That's supposed to be a T-Rex, though it's a bit small, so... maybe it's an adolescent.
