no... time... to... sleep...

I was so frustrated with the digital work I was trying to do on the Halo 3 comic last week that I almost threw my computer out the window. Basically, if you want to hear the story, we had one kid tell us we should be using 9mm pistols for crowd control, we had drunk men standing in line asking why they couldn't get their copies early, we had a few kids try to use fake i.d.'s to get the game...

...and we had people asking if we were going to keep the cardboard Master Chief display, and if not, could they have it for their bedroom, please?

It would have been a lot funnier on paper. too bad I couldn't ink and color it.

Halo 3 released... postponed

i had it all planned out. I was going to make a 300/Halo joke involving popped collars and my LoD armor from the Tickle-Me-Elmo arc. I was all set to go with the scanning and composition, and I figured I'd finish it after work this morning and post it.

And then I went to work last night, and it was all I could do to keep from shutting the sale down completely.

Not a single popped collar to be seen, but plenty of drunk men in the 30-40+ range all raging about how we didnt have the Spartan Helmet edition, and how the disks were all scratched on the Limited Editions...

But there were funny moments, too. I'm working on drawing one right after this that will be posted in a few hours. Then, homework.

Dominick with a K

this is just the line art, because i cannot for the life of me figure out how to select ONLY the line art and turn the background transparent. i know ive done it before, because i did it for a comic where i used a photo for the background (the same thing i was going to do here).

so im dumb, and you get half a comic. if someone can tell me how to turn the background transparent in paint shop pro (or should i just go get Gimp since that seems to be the program of choice around here?), then i'll put up a finished version later this weekend.

and, yes, it's not even 100 days to Christmas yet, and they are already playing Christmas music in the store.

Where have YOU been?

Actually, it's Diablo II that's been eating up most of my summer. Or rather, it WAS eating up most of my summer. I spent nearly three weeks working my way through Act 1 and another six weeks working my way through Act 2 only to discover I wasn't quite up to defeating Duriel, the boss. So after two weeks out of state on vacation, I returned and proceeded to level up my barbarian several times over. I was within 100,000 experience points of level 30 and the coveted Whirlwind skill when I lost my damned save and character files. I had decided to purchase and install a legitimate copy of the game before I attended a lan party Friday night, and even though I didn't install it anywhere near where I had my cracked version, I still somehow lost my character.

Needless to say, I'm currently a little soured on playing anymore Diablo II for a while. Thus, you get comic. Aren't you happy?

And it's not even that I haven't been thinking about it. On my vacation, I traveled about this great country, meeting some online friends for the first time several times, and they all had one question: "When are you going to update your comic?" Co-workers I didn't even know owned computers, much less knew about my comic, have asked me that same question, having seen me jotting notes down on scraps of cardboard or taking pictures with my snazzy camera-phone. And in that last is another bit of reason why I haven't really wanted to update: in March we had something like a 90% turnover on overnight stockers, and most of my friends left, including all the people who had inspired every employee you've seen in my comic except myself. This new crop of workers is often amusing, but not nearly so amusing as Dave, from Comic #36: "Dave Really Wants To Be In My Comic."

Still, I've winnowed a few nuggets of comedic... quartz from my new coworkers. With all this free time I have not playing Diablo, I might actually start updating again! Joy!

On an unrelated note, today's comic is brought to you by ExPCs and the lan party they hosted Friday night. I didn't have as much fun as I did at the last one, but it was still pretty cool. Three guys managed to finish Diablo II in eleven hours, I think. They each won a sword from Neptune's Treasures for their efforts, including punching out Baal to the death with a necromancer (he was out of everything and his teammates went into town to resupply themselves - I guess he couldn't get away from Baal long enough to portal out).

Anyway, now that I've written a flippin' novel, I'm going to go clean my apartment. What with attempting to beat Diablo this summer and all, I've rather let it go. To the point where my apartment has cobwebs. And moldy dishes. And I won't mention the bathroom.

god, i hate my head right now.

this one SEEMS to have turned out better in terms of how it got resized... of course, im typing this before finishing the upload, so there's no telling for sure...

in other news, im not ending the comic or anything, for those of you who weren't wondering. i just have been bogged down in work and getting ready for my grand return to college, which happened earlier this week JUST as the "cold" i had became the flu.

im the master of timing.
