Pagem 35: Mazinger Animated

I was quite surprised when I discovered that some of the robot head designs of Mazinger Z (one of the progenitors of the humongous mecha genre, according to tvtropes) fit quite seamlessly into the style of Transformers Animated. So I designed some robots around them and tweaked the design anyway.

Original Mazinger Z designs can be found here, here and here:

This was really MUCH work. And well yes, I could've added shadows to the robots, but... no. Just no.

Another pic of the fembot now baptisted Markhor is here.

Did you notice the background? I painted it with acrylic colours. Sadly the characters obfuscate so much... for example the complete air vent in panel 2! So here's the background without them:

Pagem 34: Mangafication!

Keptn Iglu the Manga!

You might notice a slight shift in focus. XD

This is a continuation of my previous manga attempt. I mainly did this for the screentone shading.

And I'm not 100% satisfied with this page, mainly, because I couldn't decide whether it's gonna be serious or a parody. So it became kinda half-baked. Plus, I didn't do THAT much research for this... The last panel is a bastard with which I'm especially dissatisfied, because kissing in manga tends to be two 2D face-shapes slided one into the other, but it interfered with my knowledge that and how heads are turned. Gah.

But the 4th panel is beautifully manga-ish, in my opinion :)

Still, this just isn't the style for me.

Pagem 31: Transformers Tovarishy

Oh man, do I hate colouring. But this was worth it.
The old comic look is done by a gimp 2.6 filter and a scanned old sheet of paper.

An Idea, inspired by Superman: Red Son. What would happen if the Decepticons landed in the USA and the Autobots in the Soviet Union during the Cold War? I have the story outlined (a pitch it is called, I believe) and if someone would volunteer to draw, I would write a full script.

First Aid's design is based partly on his character model, partly on his toy (which I have) and partly on a UAZ 452 I took a picture of in Glazov. As a reference for the background I used pictures I took in Izhevsk.
