FFS #74: Infamously Tarded

Holy shit, I even finished the comic in a fairly reasonable time. So much so that I have very little to say. The bulk of this comic is referencing the PS3 game InFamous, where you drain electricity from nearly anything after a while, and use it to defeat your foes.

But Cole from inFamous actually had powers. Glenn's just dumb.

EDIT: And with a legible comic.

PREVIEW: FFS 74

Here is a preview image from the comic I started to work on. I've had a few ideas over the past few weeks, but getting down to actually drawing them has been tough. You can blame 30 Rock and guitar for the delays.

But I am feeling re-invigorated towards FFS, to the point where I am working on a few things to try and change things up. You may notice the art is a little different on this one, and I really like where it is going. I've also drawn up concept art for all of the other characters, and some you haven't met yet.

Here's hoping that I don't burn myself out before things actually get produced.

FFS #73: On Dollhouse:

Just a quick, simple comic to give you the lulz, and give me the opportunity to rap a little while about Joss Whedon's newest show, Dollhouse, which just finished its first season this past Friday.

For anyone that didn't watch this show, I highly recommend you get your hands on the first season and watch it all the way through, as it is phenomenally entertaining, and easily one of the best shows that Whedon has produced in his run.

For those of you that stopped watching after the first couple episodes, I highly urge you to return to it, and finish the season. It has been said many of times by those involved, including the writers of the show, that the first episodes were made to appease Fox. It becomes Joss Whedon's show more after the fifth episode, and suddenly the overall plot begins to come through, and the charm and wit and general bad assery you expect also starts to shine through.

I have to say, the season finale was fucking fantastic. Easily one of my favorite finales in recent memory, and if it does turn out to be the series finale, I'm glad they closed some storylines up, but I will be terribly disappointed that this show, like Firefly, has to go away before Joss can tell us what he had brewing in his head. Both of these shows had long term plans, but neither was realized. As far as I can tell, even Serenity did not wrap up all Joss had to say with Firefly.

In short, fuck you, Fox.

Secondly, I'm back in school, so I can't promise regular updates, but I'm going to try what I can. I can almost guarantee next week's comic will be about Dollhouse as well, as the fate of the show is being announced late this week/early next week.

Also, started up work on putting together a book...AGAIN. This one is coming along really well, and I'm going to be including fan/reader commentary on some strips, if anyone has anything to say about anything. More details to come.

FFS #72: He's Got a Weird Fixation, That One

This was not me, on the day Patrick, Saint of boozing it up. I drank, but I did not drink myself retarded. Some people, some where, probably did. And then, as if a million voices crying out, I heard about the Dawn. And then they were silenced, presumably by the people they were partying with, smacking them upside the head, and courteously reminding them to shut the fuck up, and chug a fine lager.

What I did do on St. Paddy's Day, aside from the usual consumption of alcohol, was record a kick ass episode of Simulated Importance with Kyle, Colin and Joel (no mic, still). You can listen to it over at http://www.simulatedimportance.com. Or you can search for us on iTunes and subscribe by going to the iTunes store and searching for "Simulated Importance". Check it out, it's becoming more and more entertaining, so much so that I listen to it now.

Finally, I do want to apologize for a lackluster comic today. I spent the better part of yesterday thinking up ideas for a script that I am working on, and developing some future ideas for a TV show that I am gearing up to pitch to a network. I also watched the rest of Buffy Season 7, which means I am free! Free of her sexy clutches! I've got to say, that show ended in an epic fashion, and I was jacked up for quite a while afterwards.

I don't have much else to talk about right now, as the week has been primarily writing things that I am not ready to talk about, playing Resident Evil 5, watching Buffy, drinking, and then repeating the middle two, with some sleep thrown in there. I will let you know that the second page of Duality is half drawn, and hopefully I will find the will to finish it today, and get it up, but I cannot make any promises.

As always, follow me on http://www.twitter.com/howardscarrow to find out what's going on over here, when I'm working on stuff, when (if) Simulated Importance starts doing live broadcasts via uStream, and when I'm updating comics, and soon, video shorts/vlog on YouTube.

Thanks for stopping by!

FFS #71:Majini, what?

This is the quality of comic you get after two days of nothing but Resident Evil 5. This game is beyond amazing. It takes the near flawless gameplay of Resident Evil 4, and adds amazing visuals, and a story that ties directly to the Resident Evil plot started in the original game. If you have a Playstation 3 or an Xbox 360, you need to get this game, no questions asked.

And just to weigh in on a potentially dead issue, there is nothing racist about this game. It just happens to take place in Africa. And the setting was crucial to the plot (I won't spoil anything, but anyone that knows the history of Resident Evil will figure it out pretty early in the game).

I have beat the game twice since Friday. Once on Easy, and once on Normal. I've collected all the B.S.A.A. emblems, and unlocked all costumes. I am so incredibly enthused that I still am not done with it, and will probably play shortly after posting this, even though I do have things to do.
