Vol. 2, Chapter 1 : Escape, page 9

Sunday June 28 2009

Page for sale! Color pencil over sandpaper, slightly smaller than letter size. This is what the original looks like, I didn't need to edit it at all. I'm asking 40 US$ for it, and payment is via paypal and shipping is included. If you want it, email me.

Thanks a lot to Colleen who purchased the previous page before I even had a chance to throw it out there.

I used a different technique for this page, I'm not sure if you can tell. I just worked with spots of color here and there rather than filling in a contour. It takes a lot longer, but I also like the results better. It's a bit more like painting, except that this is drawn over sandpaper which is a bit less forgiving than other media because there's only so much color you can pile up before it won't take any more. Anyway, I bought a whole assortment of sandpaper sheets with different colors and grain size, so the next few pages should be interesting.

Monday of next week might be a new page or it might be a filler. We shall see. I promised a lot of pictures to a lot of people.

Vol. 2, Chapter 1 : Escape, page 8

Aude and the monster under the bed are getting a bit more physical and it is disturbing the children.

Holy freaking lack of equipment, Batman. I'm really close to giving up on traditional media. This is actually a photograph of a really big drawing in color pencil (where are my prismacolor and what is this Laurentian crap?) over a supposed-to-be-black-but-comes-out-grey-in-the-end cardboard. I had to cut it up into pieces in Photoshop and adjust the contrast and color piece by piece then glue them back together with magic and rainbows. It took me ages to get to this result that I'm not even satisfied with, which I suppose makes me a real artist... (-_-);

Anyway, next weekend I'd like to work on the site a bit, so I'm gonna try to get a new page done the following weekend and have it up by Monday, June 21. I'm not too sure what I'm gonna have access to in terms of art supplies, but it's definitely not gonna be pencil, cause I'm fed up for a while!

Vol. 2, Chapter 1 : Escape, page 7

It's still Monday in some countries... (¬_¬)

Hopefully you've found this page less confusing than the last. This is bodypainting, though it isn't that obvious once pieced together. For the next page I'll use good old coloured pencils.

The next page should be up Monday, June 8. Thanks for your patience.

Vol. 2, Chapter 1 : Escape, page 6

Pomegranate grenades! Thought I'd try gravure for a change. I carved this page into linoleum (which I use to print designs on shirts - anyone need a shirt?) Hopefully, it doesn't make this page too confusing. Don't worry, it was a one time experiment. I like how it looks, but I like having an understandable story more.

*cough*

Well, it will make sense at some point.

It's been a year now since I stopped updating regularly. I need to thank you guys again for being so patient with me. It's been a tough year, for sure. Started out with a divorce, changing countries, having to find work, then juggling that with a bit of studies, some semblance of a social life and just general survival matters. Right now I'm out of a job for the summer, I'm sleeping under someone's stairs, I have no art supplies and my tablet and scanner died. But I'm doing what I can. I reworked the script for this chapter entirely, and now that I clearly know where I'm headed (and now that I have an internet access again), I should be able to get a lot more done.

Stick around! I'm hoping to update again next Monday (May 25). And since I don't have a working scanner, next page will probably be painted over various body parts, and then photographed and pieced back together. Look forward to it!
