The Cavalry

The Mobile Oppression Patrol hits the scene like they usually do: with substantial automatic weapons fire and little regard for the lives of others.

The gunner in the helicopter is using a light machine gun based on the British Bren gun. I didn't really do all that much actual design work on it, though, since on this page it's only seen from angles that make the details unnecessary.

Also, the second panel took forever to ink because of all of the different planes of the background and foreground. The edges of the helicopter door, the M.O.P. trooper and his gun, the building that Frank and Ivan are on, and the rest of the buildings are all inked with different widths of pen (.08, 0.5, 0.1, and 0.05 respectively).

Thanks for reading, see you next week.

Attention, Terrorists!

The announcement from the M.O.P. chopper was a last-minute addititon that gave this page an actual joke as opposed to more violence. Upon looking at it, it's probably the bloodiest page where nobody fires a weapon. Actually, it's probably the bloodiest page, period. Even Charlie No-Aim didn't leak so much life-juice in Protection Rackets & Head Trauma.

The main Frank Baron, NSO website is slowly but surely catching up the DD site. They should be on par with each other at some point in late March.

Stop Moving!

Cozalien continues enacting Operation Humanoid Shield while Frank tries to pop him with the rifle. This is another page that was done in about two hours, split up between yesterday and today.

Also, page 50. Neat.

Thanks for reading and be sure to check out the official Frank Baron, NSO website. See you next week!

Sucker Punch Part 2 - The Re-Sucker-Punchening

Ever since my buffer ran out way back when and I ended up with other art stuff that needed to get done during the week I've learned to draw Frank Baron pages really fast, usually on the day they're supposed to be posted. This one took about two hours from start to finish.

Also, check out Rent-A-Thug Comics.com's Frank Baron section. It's funky and/or fresh.

Sucker Punch

This was actually ready to be posted on Sunday but DD wouldn't load so I couldn't access my control panel to update. Grr.

We head back to take a look at what Frank and Ivan have been up to since the shooting started. Turns out not a whole lot, but they've become conveniently active now that people are paying attention to them again. How 'bout that. Relatedly, it's hard to make punches look powerful when the characters don't have arms.

Frank Baron now has a homepage at Rent-A-Thug Comics.com. I'm reposting the story with far superior scans of the pages with updates Monday through Friday. You should check it out.

Thanks for reading, see you next week (as long as DD loads, at least).
