[16] Racial Discrmination! D:

There's a part of me that's pretty embarrassed about putting up something so sketchy like this. But baby I swear! I wasn't cheating on you! I wasn't updating other accounts behind your back I swear darling! It was the job interview you see! They stole me from you but my heart remains with youuuu~

Actually I had two job interviews. I didn't get the first one but I'll hear back about the second at the end of the week.

It's a true story! I meow meow meowed my heart out and they rejected me! I bet it was my shiny fur, delicate paws, and the silky sound of my voice as the me-OW rolled off my tongue. They just couldn't take it. Jealousy! Racial discrimination at its worse! D: I hiss!

But aw nobody knew who I was drawing fanart of. :( But that's okay~ I just have to draw it better. ^^;;

[15] Fanart

So I totally missed Monday's update. :( Sorry. I had to do something and then I got a call about a job interview. So I spent my time spiffing up my portfolios instead.

One reason why I like scanning my art is so I could spot mistakes easier. I think I messed up with this sketch which is too bad. :S I know the girl with the guns is messed up.

Who might these ladies be? Why have me tell you when YOU could tell me! If you can guess who these people are (and thus proving that not only do you have good taste but that they actually resemble the characters I was going for) then I uh, draw you something? If you guess correctly, send me three choices and I'll pick one of them to sketch for you.

Here are two hints:
1. This is a fanart sketch for a comic found on DD.
2. I only added the head scarf because I really like Blade of the Immortal's Maki~ The actual character doesn't wear that.

As a side note, I have not forgotten about Space Waffles~

Did I mention I met James Jean on Sunday? Did you know that this whole thing was typed up partly by my right hand? The same right hand that shook James Jean's hand? ZOMG! I even got sketches from him! Watching him draw them was a total art orgasmic experience. He is THAT good.

He's such a nice guy~ I hardly ever act fangirl-ish but the very thought of that day makes me squeal with girlish glee!

[14] Space Waffles logo design

I originally intended to finish this up tonight and then upload a coloured and completed version here but I got sidetracked by a few things. :(

This was suppose to be an entry to Spambot's logo design contest. Alas, it looks like I won't make it. :( I wanted to create a logo that didn't center on the waffle aspect so much but at the same time did convey something along the lines of Space Waffles. Then I realized that oh wait, it's suppose to be a webcomic logo! Oops. Too late, onward!

The blue one is a rejected design. I later realized that the waist of the astronaut wasn't well thought out so I redid it. I was then going to add the words separately on a different layout. I don't like the inking for the right boot though. Bad perspective.

As a side note, I may be moving soon so I don't know if things will be shaky but I would be surprised if it wouldn't be.

[13] I need you

I actually enjoyed working on Fern's community project a lot so I was trying to make another. I think too much thinking kind of ruin things though. I like the concept that I did for this and the one that appeared yesterday but I think it could have been executed better.

I say this because the whole community project sounded like something my art profs would have given. It used to drive us art students crazy how vague the projects could be. It meant we could do anything but not everything at the same time. So yeah, enjoyed it lots. :)

I think if this was done on better paper and was more elaborate it would have been nice. It could be a performance piece. Something bigger and more elaborate and then I set it on fire.

This is a very vague coincidence but part of the reason why I decided to start up Paper Birds again was because of a second year art project I had to do. I was cleaning and uncovered the daily sketches I had to do for my Drawing professor. I did all of them on cue cards since I'm pretty fond of them so I was flipping through them and decided I should take it up again. And now I'm here.

As I said, I'm rather fond of cue cards. They're cheap (a dollar for 100), disposable, portable, and is blank one side, lined on the other. You can write on them or draw on them. They're also a nice thickness...not too light and fragile like newsprint. But not too firm and unyielding like canvas board. Perfect for disposable sketches and messy notes.

[12] Bread cat!

I am having really bad connection problems but I just want to say thanks to those who commented last time and thanks for favouriting! :D

And ZOMG! It's Bread Cat! Look, I even wrote a song!

BREAD CAT! Oh baby Bread Cat!
He's so delicious, he's so sweet!
He is truly a tasty treat!
BREAD CAT! Oh baby Bread Cat!

I'm still not completely satisfied with it but I am swooning over the idea of a Bread Cat. I seek a new avatar for this forum I go to and it must be Bread Cat! My heart belongs to no other~

By the way, I lied. That totally wasn't a song. I can barely even sing let alone write one.
