| | jazzy | There was a time, not so long ago, that I had become really burned out and disenfranchised with the restaurant industry. I started a webcomic to cope with my angst. You may remember it, Obscene Cuisine. Apparently alot of you liked it, esp. Chef Vinny!
I eventually stopped doing my restaurant comic, and started working on some other ones. None of which anyone seemed to care about. Especially publishers. I can't even begin to tell you how many rejections from publishers I've received in my life. God, I hate those motherfuckers! But...I digress.
Anyway, it has occured to me of late that I love cooking. I really do! Sure the money's okay, could be better, but at least I have a job, and these days you're lucky if you do. Thanks G. W.!
I don't see myself as the type that could ever sit at a desk, in a suit. I actually don't think too much of those types! I prefer a hard day's labor. Y'know, man's work. And, well, I guess I've always had a thing for fire and knives!
Do I love drawing?
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Do I wish I could carve a little more profit/attention from it?
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
The thing cooks and artists have in common, is that we're whores for praise and recognition, and if you think that you aren't...YOU'RE DELUSIONAL! What chef/cook doesn't love to hear that a diner was moved by their food, or that something we made was the best (insert dish here) they ever had? On the flip side, what artist doesn't love to hear something they created moved somebody, brought them to tears, or made them laugh 'til they peed? Cooks and artists are indeed cut from the same cloth. Cooks are artists!
I'm a human being, and I love to feel appreciated. Cooking makes me feel appreciated, believe it or not! This comic, and your love for it makes me feel appreciated, and I thank you!
So...with that said, here's my first installment of a new O.C. series. Instead of doing the traditional comic strip format, I'm opting for more of a comic book layout. My hopes is to eventually format this into a graphic novel. Also this time around, I'm looking to actually tell a story, with 'soap opera' developments, and twists and turns! So, not every page will be a punchline, but instead be a small part of a bigger story. I hope you like this direction!
I really missed my lil' imaginary kitchen staff! It felt good to draw them again.

You should export these slightly larger, though... a lot of the detail in your fine drawings is lost when they are so small. -Posted on Feb 05, 2009 | | User: Azaeziel | | 5 | | Love to see OC back! Yay! -Posted on Feb 01, 2009 | | User: PowerMan X | | 5 | | Holy cow BATMAN! Its Jazzy and the Obscene Cuisine Crew Again! Welcome back Jazzy. Just a suggestion, you could call it or make it a different comic altogether. Instead of ongoing the comic strip into comic book format, just change the name to something like "Obscene Cuisine Adventures" or "Obscene Cuisine Chronicles" or something like that. Since you have a big fan base following in this strip, just post a "teaser" page of your new series. That way you can keep both formats up. But just a suggestion. Welcome back and keep them pages coming! -Posted on Feb 01, 2009 | | User: Pebbles36 | | | | Yay! It's great to see Vinnie back!!
