One of the first chefs that I worked with (who Chef Vinny is loosely based on) was a real character. He was the one who always said the cure to everyone's "problem" was "a big fat dick in the pooper". If you remember that was the gag in the first O.C.
Anyway, one of the other things he was most known for was the gag in this strip. His pants were always strategically in position so he was ready to moon anyone at the exact time he deemed appropriate.
I doubt that someone could get away with these type of shenanigans in an office enviroment, without raising a sexual harassment red flag with H.R. But, in a restaurant (at least the ones I've worked in) this is completely normal, acceptable behavior.
Like I was saying, this guy was a real character. I've lost touch with him over the years. He moved to the west coast. He really made the days bearable, and I learned a great deal fom him. I can only hope that he's lightening the mood, and cutting the tension, in California kitchens to this day. He was a great guy/chef. -Posted on Dec 26, 2007 |
