| BrentElliottWhite | Off to the Gardens. Living in New York affords one plenty of reference free and accessible (most of the time at least). I could have used the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens as is for this scene (It's big, beautiful and very well maintained) but they were doing quite a bit of off-season maintenance that year. So our Botanical gardens became a cross between the ones in Brooklyn and the French Gardens in Central Park. Not many people know about the French Gardens. If you're ever in NYC, make a point to see them. They're at about 106th and Central Park West. Lovely!
About Joshua's little jab in the third frame, well every big city is going to be populated by a great deal of idiots. NYC definitely has its share and Brooklyn, which was becoming bad back in 01, is now almost unlivable at times. The only thing worse than the thugs, hipsters and the "fuggedaboudits" (old schoolers) are the wannabe thugs, hipsters and "fuggedaboudits" (new schoolers). In short, Joshua makes a very astute observation here in my opinion. Excellent foresight Peter!

Eerie! -Posted on Aug 22, 2007 | | User: BrentElliottWhite | | | Darwin, I think I remember that time in SD. My uncle lives there. He was, in some way, involved with the gas lamp renovations downtown. Guess it isn't that close to mind afterall.
Anyways, now the rich frat boys live there instead of the normal frat boys. They'd fit right in here in Brooklyn!
Also, glad you get that fealing from the snow. Silence can be scary. -Posted on Aug 22, 2007 | | User: BrentElliottWhite | | | By all means, continue.
Oh, thank you btw. -Posted on Aug 22, 2007 | | User: Custard Trout | | 5 | Usual greatness.
Do you like arse kissing or should I stop? -Posted on Aug 22, 2007 | | User: Wazaga | | 5 | -Posted on Aug 22, 2007 | | User: Darwin | | 5 | I can't say as I've ever been to New York, but even out here on the West Coast, Brooklyn is known for it's unsavory leanings as late. Sad to hear because it used to be such a great place.
But as with any major city, the innards go through cycles. San Diego was getting a reputation for a poor/seedy downtown, recently the city spents loads of money to rennovate the interior of the city and now it is considered "THE" place to live, with Condo's running in the millions. Eh...search me I don't understand the appeal, but to each their own.
Something about snow is already making this a foreboding scene. -Posted on Aug 22, 2007 |
