This splash kicks off a multi-page crime scene sequence that is one of the more graphic scenes in the book. I was aiming to invoke a visceral reaction similar to David Fincher's Se7en or, more recently, to Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth (both of which do a much better job then your humble comic book hosts), so we consciously decided not to censor this scene in order to maintain it's impact.

I knew this would potentially limit our ability to retail into some direct market comic book stores, but ultimately didn't want to water down the creative vision that we had in mind, which is always a nice luxury to have when you're producing your own independent comic.

Brent does a lot of subtle things with this page that I think really helps establish the macabre tone we were shooting for, including the tilted perspective and the distortion of the victim's legs, which draws the reader in as we view the scene from the eyes of the police officer off-panel.

OUCH was my first reaction...yikes...this should be an interseting case for our "hero."

You've managed catharsis, and I know that is what you were going for...so great job!

The macabre horror of the artwork is almost enough to induce vomiting.

That's a good thing though.
