So do we want to give good guy/bad guy a run this year and see if that works out?

Ditto on that. Let's at least see how it works out with the new categories.

It will make it feel more fresh and new, a new begining for the new site name.
Are they even going to the DD awards anymore? Perhaps the ducks.

I'd rather keep them the DD Awards. :P
But then again, I have not acknowledged the "new name" in any respect whatsoever and refuse to do so. ;)
EDIT:
Lol, I just got this message when trying to post this:

Damn you duck conspiracy!

Okay, I'm not sure where else to put this (maybe a new thread?) but it's the basic idea I had for the background for the awards comic. It needs work (and real lighting) and the idea is to have the top and bottom (and if people want, the sides) fade into black, or some suitable dark color, though I suppose we could go with it as a fixed image, too.
If other people have other ideas, or don't like the 3D graphics, I'm completely cool with that. I had just volunteered to do some of the art, and had a little bit of time to get started on it. And I'm open to suggestions (though if I'm clothing the Ducksters, it's going to be a kilt.)

Awesome stage! But shouldn't those be duck statues instead?
Actually, they do have Duck heads and webbed feet. It's just hard to see in the small image. The only other 3D semi-anthropomorphic duck I have is the cutsie one I used for the Award.
Here's the same image with more "Howard the Duck" proportions:
Here's about (still needs work) how I would have it for a fixed image:
Sorry if I seem to be dominating this. I'm waiting for my mom to come into town and playing with the idea keeps me busy while I wait.

It really looks good to me. Can't wait until you call it done. I should be getting my computer back in a couple of days, so then I can start fixing stuff up as far is images and what not go.

Still haven't done title banner or buttons, but here's a rough mockup with the finished background, though I am thinking about making the statues a little more yellow. This image is only a 550px wide mid-quality jpg, though the original was a 1280px png. I can re-render at a different width too.
I changed the curtains to green because that's The Duck's color, but they can go back to Red just as easily.
If people have any thoughts on it, I'm happy to hear them.

Still looking good WaterRat. I found out that my computer won't be ready until Friday or Saturday, otherwise I would help with images a bit.
However I got the forum for the awards reopened again.

I can see the "duckness" now (or maybe it's just more clear in the newer one?)
Lookin' good!

I just wanted to make a reminder here. If you are trying to join the forum you need to pq me your username and address so I can verify it. This is a security mesure to keep spammers off the site.

Looks really good! :)
BTW, I don't mind helping count ballots (and verify finalists) and moderate the judging forum like I did last year. Or assist in any other capacity I'm capable of.

Okay, I'm finally happy with the background. Hopefully everyone else is too.

Looks good. :) Can we do a solid background for the author notes and comment areas, though?

I'd just go with white text on black. I think that would be easiest to read and least jarring.
If we make a "for your consideration" thread, you could link to it and to the judging forum and volunteer thread too (using the "links"). That would probably encourage involvement. And it would be good to have all those resources easily accessible.

Hi,
I'd like to help in some way...what's involved in presenting awards? That sounds doable...If there's an awardd comic to do, I could contribute to that, depending on what kind of workload there is to it...

You make a presentation that basically has the nominees and say "and the winner is." You can look back at Last year for some examples.

Sounds great...I'd love to do one (or a couple if needed!)
DaWater....the duckie awards with the green background looks fantastic! Very regal!
