Hello there.

I'm a struggling artist who has recently decided to have a stab at creating a superhero short-story web comic.

I'm an artist first, and a writer second. In actual fact, these initial few pages that I have posted have no words in them whatsoever. This is a work in progress really. The words, ink and colour are yet to come.

I would ask for any comments however brutal (provided they are constructive) I really can take it. I will certainly reciprocate and view your comic should you leave a comment. Please provide me with the necessary link to your creation.

My aim is to make this comic as readable without words as poss, before putting words into it. This will ensure the visual narrative is functioning effectively.

Without boring you into the deepest of slumbers, I'll say no more.

The art for Absurd Conflict is excellent. The Author uses a lot of interesting points of view and a very nice balance of space. However, I can't get around the pencil. This comic is begging to be inked. I think once the inks are in it will look very very professional even without color.

As for the story, I can only go by the visual clues. I think I've heard a lot of super-hero stories where the main character is avenging their family, or in this case, wife. So hopefully there's more to the hero's motives for fighting the villain than that. It all remains to be seen. The evil villain seems to be a good contrast to the hero, hopefully he has a very interesting back-story as well. I have high hopes that this story won't go a cliche route.

Posting pages in this unfinished state is a mistake. I highly doubt the users of drunkduck can get into the comic as it is now, and without readers a comic usually gets abandoned for long periods and eventually the authors loose interest.
Granted inks and color take a long time, but at the very least words could be temporarily added. At best this comic is a gold mine of potential, I sincerely hope the author chooses to do something with it before it becomes a forgotten project.

You have obvious rendering skills, but one thing i must say (and this goes for every artist out there, because i see alot of artists doing it)....simply darkening your pencil lines in Photoshop is no substitute for inks.

"Kung Fu Komix IS...hardcore martial art action all the way. 8/10" -Harkovast
"Kung Fu Komix is that rare comic that is made with heart and love of the medium, and it delivers" -Zenstrive
"Kung Fu Komix is...so awesome" -threeeyeswurm
"Kung Fu Komix is..told with all the stupid exuberance of the genre it parodies" -The Real Macabre

Certainly a fair and valid point about darkening the pencils to black. However that has only been done on the cover page, it is a temporary measure which started life as an experiment, I agree, the blackening can never replace a proper inking job. Certainly the next page and subsequent pages (when I get round to doing them) will be inked properly via photoshop and a Wacom Tablet, all being well.

Thanks for the kind words, as you know I like your Kung Fu comic, and look very forward to its future.

I liked it, seems wierd and interesting.
There are only 9 pages right now but they all look good to me.
The hero looks VERY strange in that funny hat and sunglasses, but I think its the sort of thing that will grow on me as I read more about him.
Make more and I'll read more!
