Hi there,

I've been doing a sci-fi/humor/story strip for a few months, I now have 29 strips in the archive, so I figured it was time to ask for a crit.

The comic begins with Captain John and his robot companion Asimov getting stranded on Mars, where they meet up with Ugo, a friendly Martian.

The strip is posted both here and on my own site.

The web site is at:
http://www.maroonedcomic.com/

To start from the beginning:
http://www.maroonedcomic.com/comic-for-3242008/

You can view it here on DruckDuck, but the DD version doesn't quite have all the comics. The first strip on DD starts here:
http://www.drunkduck.com/Marooned/index.php?p=380597

Sharp eyes will note that on my own site, I have updated the first two strips to be in the more current style, which I plan on doing for a few more of the early strips.

I really welcome any and all comments, good, bad or ugly. Thanks for looking!

Tom

Hey Tom,

First off, I love the humor you're using for your comic. That's exactly the kind of good(!) old-school humor I've always loved to read (and, as you should know by now, am incapable to produce myself :D ).
The fact that you are able to continue the story itself while always finding a good punchline at the end of each strip (or vice-versa) is simply incredible and I highly admire you for it.
As far as the setting and the characters go, well, you can only say "yay" or "nay" to that since it's a matter of personal taste, but I for one like it very much although I'm usually not really into sci-fi.
Also, kudos on the new style, it gives the whole comic a lot more plasticity (well, imho) and adds to the atmosphere without distracting the viewer.

To sum it all up, I like it and definitely look forward on seeing future strips of yours =)
Keep up the good work,

Loam

I also really liked this comic. The art is simple and nice, the characters are a lot of fun, and the punchlines are great. I'm watching with interest to see what you do with John, and Asimov is of course a fun character -- I'm a sucker for smart-mouthed robots. :) I do have one minor complaint in that the Martians don't seem to have much personality. At first I thought you'd be playing off the wide-eyed innocent kid (which is what Ugo struck me as in the first few strips) but they seem to have both deteriorated into Martian tour guides.

But that's the minor complaint. My only MAJOR complaint is that there aren't more comics to read. ;D

Thanks Katfeete :) Sorry but I just saw this now. If you're still reading, hopefully you've noticed that the Martians are more than tour guides. I think the strip has changed quite a bit since I posted this thread. I am also updating twice a week now.

Very funny stuff! Character personalities are distinct and they all interact well with each other!
