Mature-rated for bad language and later on there will be situations not suitable for kids although I'm not planning any especially graphic violence or sexual nudity.

Introducing my first foray into the world of webcomics, a series of short stories set around the night shift of a small rural town's police station.

Cast members: (main night shift people)

D I Dalton - some fifteen years in the police make Dalton the most experienced officer on the night shift. He came to Marketon two years ago from Hull, where he was a widely respected member of the Humberside force. His post is generally considered to be doomed, the post people who have nothing to live for end up in. The fact he's lasted two years is unusual.

P C Adie Mountjoy - Adie wants to do the CID training, but has to complete two years of probationary service to prove his suitability before he's eligible. An ambitious young man he enjoys rugby (playing for the same amateur side as Al) and finds Dalton's laid-back apathy frustrating.

PC Al Thomas - Al's a family man through and through, having recently married his childhood sweetheart he can think of no finer pleasure than taking his two young daughters to the park. While not the cleverest officer on the shift his large size and prognathous jaw lead to members of the public underestimating him.

PC Gail Harding - Gail is a recent addition to the team, having transferred over from the city just under a year ago. She seems quite mild-mannered and pleasant, but that hides a strongly competitive nature. Had her school days gone slightly different she would probably have become a professional athlete instead. Prior to her transfer to Marketon she was being groomed for promotion. Despite her move to a quieter area I daresay it is only a matter of time before her ambition is reawoken and she makes Sergeant.

Dawn Mahoney - The only civilian on the shift Dawn is something of a motherly figure, mainly due to the fact that she took the job after her sons left home and she needed something to do. This Irish national staffs the front desk and telephones, as well as supporting the youngsters.

The shift's numbers are generally supplemented by officers doing shift-work, including the weekenders, who monitor the pubs at letting out time. But they won't appear much in the stories as the comic is character-driven and set around the cast outlined above.

(Others:)

Chief/The Boss - This older gentleman with the splendid moustache is the head honcho of the town police. Less than ten years from retirement his days are now taken up with paperwork and personel issues instead of 'proper police work', but that doesn't mean he's forgotten his way around the procedures.

D S Anya Ward - The only Detective from the day shift we regularly see Anya's main talent is in handling arson cases, although around these parts that's not an especially useful skill to have. She loves living out in the sticks, but feels that her talents are wasted in such a sleepy locale. It is unknown as to why she has taken on the task of acting as liaison between the day and night shifts.

I hope you enjoy it!

I must say i'm enjoying it, but I think a few more background details and less joint-up letters (seperating them would make it much easier to read) wouldn't hurt, as sometimes I wasn't 100% sure what was happening in the scene.

Ah, thank-you for the feedback. While I've been trying to make my writing as legible as possible I'm used to my writing so I don't think about how others would find it.
