I don't know if trying to push any actual paper books will do any good here, but I decided to attempt it anyway. The occasion? Two of my twelve planned releases for this year became available for sale.
First, few words on the whole idea. I set myself a goal of twelve releases, whether they be sketchbooks, comics, novels or t-shirts. Basically, twelve artistic endeavors of any kind, not necessarily monthly though. I have enough projects stacked on my "to do" list to last me for few years, so there's no worry I'll run out of stuff. The things will generally be of the POD nature (meaning print on demand).
I decided to start with two offerings, think of them as JANUARY and FEBRUARY if you will:
Inkbook Book 1 is a 52 page black and white sketchbook available through Indyplanet .
a small preview:
The six pages above come from the main 40-page long section of the sketchbook presenting drawings I did between September-December 2009 (most of which were shown off by me in who visit the various Art & Story Corner threads I started during that time).
Also included 12 older drawings from the same year, mostly to show off my progress throughout 2009 (starting January 2009)
under the Indyplanet link above, you can find a further 6 page preview.
The second offering on the other hand is...
Moon Jade Angel book 1, a 48-page full color collection of art and short comics. Including three short comics (a total of 14 pages), and it is also available from Indyplanet .
some preview pages:
Short comic "Conception and Definition"
a short gallery of abstract art (four pieces total)
a 3-page section on my older cover designs followed by a short 2-page comic (both not pictured) and finally the two main attractions:
a 30+ page gallery of my digital art (in various art styles, from cartoony to photomanips)
and finally the 6-page comic "Planet Adam" that was originally created for an anthology that failed to materialize.
Also another 6 pages to be seen under the Indyplanet link above.
Both titles will be irregular offerings, that is, whenever I have enough short comics/color art or black and white drawings, I'll assemble the next issue of either of these.
If any comic book store retailers would happen to be in the DD area (which I kinda doubt, but you never know), I've got these also listed on Comicsmonkey. Inkbook #1 and Moon Jade Angel #1 .
also available (but not a part of my 12 projects thing) is my last year's single offering, Amen City Chronicles: Din Krakatau , which is a print edition of my 2008 webcomic Din Krakatau .
Preview and the full thing itself are available at the above links.
A quick note: it's rather pricey (I did not foresee the cost of color TPB's when I started drawing it)and not as well drawn as my more recent stuff (I focused on storytelling and clarity rather than on pretty art) and hopefully somewhere later this year I'll be redrawing it in b&w as the slightly expanded (pacing-wise, same story content) edition that'll be also v1 of the much longer Amen City Chronicles series.
Enjoy!
