...So basically my problem is this. My comic is extremely difficult to define. I actually like it this way, not following a genre, but it means that trying to get new readers is a pain in the arse.
Basically I'd call it an....
Action/British Comedy, Retro-punk Fantasy, Shoujo Anglomanga.
Action: Obvious really, it has huge swords, monsters, guns, superpowers, big fights and crazy sound effects.
British Comedy: There's a LOT of comedy in the comic, despite the darker turns the story may take. The characters speak in British slang and the humour is often either dark or understated. In other words, it's English to the core.
Retro-punk Fantasy: I had to invent a term, okay? It's set in a country similar to England, except there's magic, super-powered knights and it's been stuck in the 1960's for 40 years. The country, Anglise, is closed off from the rest of the world in a similar way to Edo period Japan, and as society stagnates, civil war and terrorism has begun to break out, not to mention the fact that demonic entities seem to be on the increase...
It has a retro/indie design influence throughout, and a world setting that's hopefully different from anything you've seen before.
Shoujo Anglomanga: A shoujo manga is a manga primarily for a female audience, which focuses on relationships between characters. Though the main target audience is female, I do have a number of male readers. There's no fanservice, male or female. Anglomanga is another term I invented (which is also the name of my random sketch comic I don't put on DD) for a Manga drawn in England. Like an Amerimanga, but with more tea. The style is manga-esque, but the eyes aren't huge and sparkly, the noses aren't tiny and pointed and the characters have relatively realistic anatomy. There's no sweat-dropping, it's drawn in easy to read western style left-to-right, and only one character uses occasional Japanese (My uni subject is Japanese, so you can at least be sure it's correct, not fangirlese).
Well, that's the definition out of the way. Hopefully you can now just enjoy the fact that it's got a crazy heroine with a big sword and there are lots of funny bits!
