The complete, 112-page, full colour graphic novel print version of COWBOYS & ALIENS will be released in your finer North American comic shops tomorrow for the ridiculously low price of $4.99 American. Nice little Christmas present for me.

Especially at 112 pages of Full colour!

-omg, that sounds like an endorsement from an add on tv... But it's true!
Good work on your comic Andrew.

Platinum actually wanted to make it $2.99, but $4.99 was the lowest Diamond would allow C&A to go and still define it as a graphic novel. And seeing as Platinum was billing it as a "graphic novel event", we were kind of stuck at the higher price point (which is still a pretty good deal, IMO.)

$2.99 for full color? How is that even possible? You must have a huge print run. I wasn't aware Platinum Studios could afford to do that.

Anyway I just bought it from Amazon.

I can't speak to "afford"; to be honest, I don't even know if the company's not actually losing money with every copy sold. But there was a lot riding on this book making some sort of a splash, and Scott pulled out pretty much all the stops to get us near the top of the direct market graphic novel sales charts.

I only have a ball-park number for the sales so far, and I've no idea what our total print run is, but to give you some idea of the scale of this thing: to date I've had one graphic novel, PARTING WAYS, and a five issue comic series, DONE TO DEATH. If you were to take the sales of WAYS and add that to the sales of all five issues of D2D combined...

...COWBOYS & ALIENS sold more than all of them, on initial orders alone.

I've gotta get Image to publish more of my books...

Speaking as someone else who has books in previews - "This is going to kill the sales for the rest of us."

Speaking as a fan of great work - "God! I cannot wait. Everyone is getting a copy from me."

Very, very cool. So did Diamond ship them already?

If you guys like Platinum's Cowboys & Aliens you should check out my book here on DD, Tom Arvis' Wayout West- same theme, different story and characters. This is an 8-page web-preview of a B&W ashcan comic I first published in 1995 and sold over 100 copies of at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD. I recently self-published it again, in full size and full color with newly added material, to commemorate it's 10th anniversary. It's similarity to Platinum's book is immediately obvious, but the differences will become more apparent as the story develops. Both are great sci-fi westrn adventures and if you like one you'll probably like the other. More pages will follow soon and issue number 2 will hopefully be available in late January, but only through www.sureshotcomics.com. Yippy Ki-yi Yay!
