Ten years ago, a young boy named Brandon Chambers went along with his mother on a business trip to Japan. While there he came across a young girl Japanese girl his age named Kimiko Fujisawa. Despite their inability to communicate proper due to language barriers, they formed a friendship. A friendship not unseen by their business owning parents whom arrange a partnership deal through their children arranged to be married when they come of age, and through that create a powerful merger between their respective companies.
While Kimiko spends the next ten years preparing to be Brandon's bride, learning English and all about things in America, Brandon has no idea of what was arranged due to a falling out with his mother and her neglecting to tell him of such things. So in his final year of high school, when Kimiko shows back up in his life with her half-Japanese, half-American tutor and a bodyguard whom may be a ninja in tow, bringing the marriage arrangement to light, Brandon is none too thrilled with things.
Despite this, Kimiko attempts to at least stay in America and try to re-kindle the friendship the two once had again and along the way learn more about the country she spent years learning about, dealing with rivals for Brandon's affection, other possible sutors, and many other things...
