Hanson, a failed Spec Ops sergeant with a chequered past and a head full of demons, has been transferred to Crowley Island, an abandoned goverment centre where the dead and the damned feed on the living. Crowley Island was once a Necro-research facility. Hundreds were maimed and killed in the government’s quest for occult knowledge. Until one day, they succeeded in opening a Door. But what came through wasn’t what they had hoped. It was Hell. And now the only thing standing between that and the rest of the world…are men like Hanson.

In the waning years of the 20th centaury, mankind’s interest turned away from science and towards the occult. Governments set up vast Necro Research facilities to explore its mysteries. Failure followed failure but nothing could prepare them for what was infinitely worse – when they finally succeeded. Shortly afterwards, fortifications were set up around the Crowley 1 Research Center to act as a barrier between it and the rest of the world. This wasn’t to keep people out but rather to keep what the scientists had unleashed in. In time, this became the final stop for every failed special forces operative – every adrenaline junkie, every combat burn out case, every strung out sadist who’d opened fire on unarmed kids instead of the enemy. Of course, by that time the fortifications had a name. They were called the Ministry.
