The land of Lovaria is threatened by the return of a powerful tyrannical sorcerer long thought dead. Now, its future rests in the hands of a mage novice, a battle-hardened knight, a mysterious rogue, an adventure-loving warrior and a meek Chosen priest.
I know some of you will notice that the setup is very typical of a D&D adventure campaign. Actually, the setting was originally created as a D&D campaign setting when I was still in college. When I started doing webcomics, I decided to base a comic from a world that is already well known to me. And since it has a very D&D-esque skew to it already, I decided to make the main characters take on the major D&D character archetypes: magic-user, paladin, thief, fighter and cleric. I thought that D&D players who might be reading my webcomic would appreciate this. People, in the past, have criticised the series for having a major D&D influence to it but it was partly intentional, to appeal to D&D and RPG players.
One of the comic's strengths, according to my old readers, was the characterization and the interactions between the characters. That's what they told me, at least. So, if you are into that kind of thing, then you'll probably like the comic even if you don't like fantasy stories. The comic is generally serious but I've injected it with some humour (I hope you find the funny stuff funny). There is also a bit of fighting in there so you'd probably like it if you are a fan of action.
This comic was originally started in April 2001. So, you'll notice that the quality of art from the earlier pages are not as good as the newer ones (though not always true). I have just recently started doing the webcomic again after going into a two-year hiatus. To make it easier on me, I've moved the comic series on to Drunk Duck where it could hopefully have a more permanent home.
Anyway, that's enough pimping, I guess. I hope you enjoy it.
