'Ello. I am Az. I've made a comic here on Drunk Duck that's grown in length since last October. I posted it up right before my birthday (the 2nd), which is the 21st of October.... its gotten to be my baby, and I intend to continue it for a very long time. I enjoy writing it as much as I do drawing it. I wish I had a partner, but I don't so meh. It would make it easier to put out pages, given that I only draw, ink and shade my with pencils. Sorry, no pretty-ful computer arty here. I intend on taking some sort of grahpical arts class someday, but college is more important right now, so I can't just yet.

Anyhoo, what's this comic about, you ask? Well the theme is "Furry" and "Real Life." The characters are anthropromorphic, and the world they live in is somewhat realistic. Which means no super powers or flying cars or anything like that. Its about the main character, Az, and his adventures in going to college. He and his friends must tackle going to class, getting the grades, romance, social graces, moral choices, etc. There's some comedy and some serious moments as well.

Is it episodic? How many Episodes do you have done? For the most part, yes. Each chapter focuses on a different fur from Az's dorm, of not then Az himself. Each Chapter can be somewhat read seperately from all the others. Names are established at the beginning of each chapter, so in theory they could be read alone from each other. I have six chapters done right now, and am most of the way through the fifth chapter.

What are the chapters you have so far about?
Chapter 1: Just Another Day in Paradise is very short, and is about the average day at school for the main character.

Chapter 2: College Realizations Is a string of one-strip jokes based on real conversations I've had in college. Some are funny, others are stupid, some are just wierd. Most are entertaining, though.

Chapter 3: Cry of the Wox is about the main character, Az. His dorm room is broken into by a massive cat-fur with no tail, who leaves absolutely no trail behind himself, baffling police. And when Az finds something the crook left behind, its up to Az's friends to protect him before the thug comes back again!

Chapter 4: My Body as a ShieldAz's best friend Lowell is harboring a terrible secret from everyone, even his girlfriend. But, when he shows up as a patient for a check-up at the same hospital she's working at, will the truth come out?

Chapter 5: Art of the Heart, Eye of the ArtistThe hot season is upon the campus, and the dorm air conditioner breaks. Az decides to model nude for an art class to get the money to get it fixed. He wears a disguise so no one will recognize him, but things are sure to get complicated somehow. That professor sure is looking at him rather closely...

Chapter 6: Becky A montage of Az romancing a mouse-girl from the previous arc. Their romance is sweet, you'll like all the places they visit.

Chapter 7: P.I.M. Az, Becky, Lowell, and Kat go out to the snowy mountains for a long weekend break. They stay in a cute little cabin together, two in one room two in the other. There's sure to be romance!

Chapter 8: Poetry Az schools his classmates in e.e.cummings poetry. Remember, this is a comic about college life, so you hafta do some stuff in the actual classrooms to remind everyone of what the environment is!
------------------------------------------------------------

Anyways. At 250-some-odd pages, here's "Az and a Furry College Life." Please enjoy. :)

I've already talked about your comic to you, but I must say that you should try to clean your comic up a bit.

I don't know what to do about that, but if I were you, I'd give it a try.
Updates Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's (depends).

Mah comic is not dirty! It is appropriately rated T+! :cry:

Seriously though. I know my comic started out BADLY, but I improved over time, I think! :cry: You can see my improvements over time, in my opinion. And that's part of the evolution of a lot of comics. Their art improves over time.

When I say "dirty" I meant clean the lines up a bit.

Oh.

well....

yeah, I am trying to do that. My latest arc, I've been trying to do the best I can, as far as keeping panel lines straight and text right and so on and so forth. My next update will be my hundredth page, ZOMG~! O_o;

I guess my goal should probably be, beyond basic anatomy, trying to get an emotional response from my readers. That has always been a big goal of mine as a writer. Which, seriously, it got easy enough over time. But, I got very bored with writing after so many years... so here I am drawing comics, lol! XD

Wow, I downloaded the DD Try thingy, I've got eleven people that have favorited my comic! I feel so proud, being such an ametuer, that almost a dozen people are reading it. ^_^;

136 pages is a long way to go!

Well, Az, whether you know it or not, I've been keeping up with your comic. I do have some thoughts on it and I just wanted you to hear 'em.

As I said before, I do sort of wish you'd clean up the pages and maybe add colour, but I have no right to talk about that...

You're art has improved from the original drawings (you're trying new things, and I'm for that). The only thing that really kills your art is the hands. I see great bodies and heads, but then I see the hands and it just... yeah....
just a word of advice from me to you, I would sit down and just draw hands for like an hour or so. To be honest, you'll realize hands aren't that hard once you figure out which part is which.
Backgrounds still needs work, but so does mine, so I still have little room to talk.

The story is great. I like the whole "confused romance" sort of thing. Actually, right now I'm enjoying the "I need $380, so I'll pose nude for an art class." That's the first time I've ever heard of someone being able to do that. Quite interesting.

Overall, you're doing great and I just think you should just... keep it up.

I purchased an anatomy book the other day, and am working very hard to try to get a little better in the department of hands. I know they look like oven mitts, I know it better than anyone. It *IS* embarrassing to look at a great strip and see that their hands look so goofy.

I am working on my weak points, so bear with me while I learn to draw something I haven't been able to draw since I started loving art 10 years ago. :dizzy:
