Hey all, I humbly submit myself and my work for the gods, demons, and drunk ducks of the world to review, critique, comment, or whatever. If you care about context, I go on to explain a bit below, otherwise feel free to skip to the good stuff:
http://www.drunkduck.com/Apple_Valley/
First of all, let me say this - this is not an Archive Dump or a Backup Site - while I admit a number of these comics are not "new", I am making original comics which are exclusive to the Drunk Duck with the intent to update it twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Ok, so here's what's going on... back in '08 I started a webcomic called The Apple of Discord (http://www.theappleofdiscord.com if you're interested, however that's not really the topic here). AoD started out as a completely random comic, with no intentional recurring characters or ongoing stories... but then I got lazy and instead of reinventing the wheel every single comic, I created a stable "cast" of regular unique characters that I could reuse for some of my non-parody social commentary-style comics.
Well, originally all these cast members were isolated - we had Arthur, the cynical movie fan; Horn, the wanna-be criminal who's larceny was only held back by his idiocy; Doyle, the naive impressionable sucker; Dr Hubris, the mad scientist with a heart of gold (in a jar, in his office); The Archer, a character who hunts cliche webcomic characters for fun and profit; Coma-Guy Steve, who was in a coma for 15 years and is only now learning of the internet.
But as the comic started running on, these characters started... running into one another. From these early interactions, basic stories started forming. Doyle is Art's brother, and works for Dr Hubris. Horn preys on the innocence of Steve. Art and The Archer went to school together with Steve (before his coma).
So for 24-Hour Comic Day in 2008, I did a long-form comic featuring several of the regular characters together in one comic (as well as introducing a few new ones). It was a bit rough, but it was fun, and it helped lay the framework for several things to come later on. Over the next year, more and more "story"-ish comics popped up, revealing bits and pieces about the unique circuimstances surrounding the characters and the fictional town they live in - Apple Valley, Ohio.
The problem was that, with the hectic pace of AoD, the bits featuring Apple Valley (which I didn't get to work on that often) often got lost in the shuffle... and whenever I'd dedicate a good solid week to doing them (as opposed to the purely random stuff) the fans of the purely random stuff would get pissed off. Essentially, the comic had grown into two seperate comics which were now fighting for space, and killing one another off in the process.
So... what you have here, now living on DrunkDuck, is all the canon-ish Apple Valley stuff, contained in one run with no interruption. Reading through, the first big block of comics (as well as several chunks thrown in later) do reflect the original "one-off humor" comic nature of the comic, but it settles into a good storyline later on.
So, look me over, see what you think, let me know. I humbly await your frank, honest criticism.

[PLUG/CRIT] - Apple Valley, a "new" fantasy comic

I'm now up to 3 times a week, have escalated the level of art (and awesome) in each comic about threefold, have added a shout box on the custom template design, and am doing my best to bond with the good peoples of our new surrogate home here on DrunkDuck.
Please love me.
Or at least let me know what you think of my comic.

I think your art is adorable,but it's a gamer parody comic,and since I don't play videogames I can't quite "get it" =)
But I wanted to give you feedback anyway

I appreciate your interest and thank you for looking over my comic. I am a little vexed, though, as it's not really all that "gamer parody", as you put it.
It's really, if anything, a parody of webcomics as a whole... it does occasionally default to a RPG-esque logic (as is currently going on) however that's more a part of the fantasy genre comic framework (with a little bit of manga thrown in) and not really based on any specific game.
Does anybody else look at my comic and see "gamer"?

Just one thing : don't be dissapointed if you don't get alot of feedback in this category,cause,well...nobody is really posting here exept comic authors themselves with constant bumping.
No love in this category :p
I'm trying to be more active here and encourage the new people =)

Since the comic is now a couple of months old (on Drunk Duck anyway) I thought I'd re-up this post just to fish for a little more feedback.
I am really curious - I get a few people who consistantly pop up and rate my comic (almost always 5s, too, which is awesome) but very little actual feedback as to what is going on.
