Alright gang, just wanted to let everyone know that I've started updating the Definitive Edition of my first web comic series: The Temple of a Thousand Tears .
It's a fantasy / samurai story about a group of religious fanatics on a holy pilgrimage to find 7 lost historical objects before the church can destroy them - however, I'm neither religious nor a fanatic, and this story should not come off as preachy. At least, I hope it doesn't.
There is tons of action and violence, suspense and mystery, and lots of emotion and character development. At just under 71 pages, this new edition adds in some additional pages, cleans up some artwork, changes some fonts and coloring, and generally improves the work overall from the feedback I received when it first went live on my website, www.trevor.exilecomics.com
Check it out. It will update daily until finished.

Nice art.
I'm a little turned off by the smudge marks left on your page from pencil. It also doesn't look too clean with you mix colour with colour-less pencil marks.
Despite those negatives, I envy your anatomy skills and your ability to show off action scenes.

Yeah, the smudge marks won't be sticking around. Again, this was the first web comic I had done, and the first time I had used Photoshop on a comic series. This work is a little dated compared to what I do these days, but I definitely appreciate the feedback.
Also, a good piece of feedback from this first page was that the swords were not straight - this too is corrected pretty quickly.
Thanks for the comment, and for checking out the comic. Please come back every day to check out the new pages.

All the feedback that I've received so far on my webcomic has suggested that I should slow it down to 3 per week or less. Therefore, at the end of this week I'm going to start updating Monday / Wednesday / Friday.
I hate to post twice in a row, but I wanted some people's feedback. I'm getting many messages from PMs, Quacks, and forums that say that updating daily is daunting for readers. What do you guys think?

Just a reminder that as of Saturday, The Temple of a Thousand Tears will go from being updated daily to a Monday - Wednesday - Friday schedule. This should make the comic a little more accessible to readers with busy schedules - like myself.
Chapter 1 just finished (more of a prelude, really), and Chapter 2 is just beginning. Be sure to check it out!

Just wait until the head-spinner for Friday.... ;)
I hope you guys (and gals) are enjoying it.

Fridays update went live as per usual, and I've updated the cover page for when people search for the comic. It's now an image from chapter 4, a close up on the swordsman. Check it out, let me know what you think!
To see the new cover, go to browse / search and type in "temple." My webcomic will be on the first page. :D

I dig it! Got a nice blend of characters; also you have an ending in mind it seems. For me this is good and makes the writing tighter. Just don't rush it, if you end up having to expand the comic by one chapter that is fine! Just saying that because sometimes the pacing feels a bit rushed. But the story does suck you in, so your story in itself is awesome..
Art wise really nice, your upperbodies rock, you lower bodies could use a little work. But your faces are spot on.. I like it! looking forward to the next update

A new Temple went live today. Again, this is currently updating Monday / Wednesday / Friday. Although it updates more often than my other webcomic (@$$hole! ), it is less popular in the numbers rating - however, it does tend to generate more comments, which is interesting to me.
But anyway, check it out, and another page will go live on Wednesday this week!
This is something that I have always been told, and I work to perfect (or ignore, by positioning my characters in the panel so that you can't see them from the waist down). I think it'll get better as the comic goes on, but you be the judge - help me be a better artist and call me out on stuff like this.
Thanks for the feedback! :D

But could those two paths be connected somehow? Check it out .

Last page of Chapter 2. I'm going to start posting fan art in November, but Fern has submitted some fan art already! I'll be posting it later this week.
All fan art submissions will get a link and a short review in the blurb I write for the comic, so feel free to PM (or quack) me an image!
Fan art will be displayed one per week, and in the order that they are received. I'll release details on when the pages will go live soon!
In the meantime, check out the new page !

Today marks the first "Fan Art Friday" with a great portrait of the swordsman by Fern. Fern works on several webcomic series on Drunk Duck, but one that has quickly captured my heart was BFF .
BFF has such a simplistic and geometric style which makes it very unique when compared to other web comic series out there. The characters, although simplistic in design, are complex in nature, and analyze pop culture and sociology with a comedic outlook. Although the comic has finished (topping off at 100 pages), the archives are filled with rich pages of glorious comedic brilliance. Also, the characters are just so very very cute!
###
Starting in November, I will be accepting fan art for "Fan Art Fridays!" Fan Art will be displayed in the order that they are received, and each person who submits a piece of fan art will receive a mini-review like above. Please include a link to the comic you would like reviewed if you have multiple titles. Please send me fan art and links through a PM (or quack). :D

And an area to avoid. What secrets could lie in wait for our group in The Valley?

Temple updated today with fan art by Carl.
Carl Kloster holds a very special place in my heart, as he was the first person to get me into web comics (and is the designer of my current website: www.trevor.exilecomics.com )
Carl has worked on many web comic projects including The Third Half , The Avenues, and a slew of guest strips. He currently does video projects for the web and contributes to The Exile , a community based web comic. His fan art submission for today was an April Fool's prank that he posted during the first run of this comic, taking place in the middle of Chapter 1: The Journey.

Just a brief comment before I boogy to bed. I like the artwork, very well done, I agree some of the smudging could be an issue but you can work it over in time But overall the art is pretty good. Also I like the newest comic, that man can surely break it down. Good bringing humor in sometimes. Well peace.

Sorry it took a little while to update, but I have two things to announce for Temple:
1) A new page went up on Wednesday, which will be leading into a little more detail behind the characters of Julian and Shiri (and also the first milestone, page #25!) Be sure to check it out!
2) Fan Art Friday this week was supplied from TheMidge28! Actually, this was a birthday gift that he made for me, which I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate that. I always prefer gifts that people make for me, as it shows that they put forth the time and effort, and I do appreciate it. Midge does an awesome comic called Bloodhound which I almost instantly took to upon my arrival on this site.
Midge has a very unique art style, utilizing a minimalist color scheme (mostly red and purple) and an almost Frank Miller like approach to his bold black shadows. The mood and atmosphere that he creates in a single page is more than most people can pull off in 30+ pages (myself included). He's not afraid to cast his characters in almost complete darkness to set the stage for the kind of situation (and world) that they inhabit.
This gothic, almost noir style of art was one of the first reasons that I was drawn to this comic...and then I read the story! At only 27 pages in, not a ton has happened - but what has happened is sweet! The prologue is a dream sequence in Japan of a drunken man being attacked, and then the person having the dream reveals that he is cursed. The first chapter follows the exploits of two under cover cops trying to catch a serial rapist, until some supernatural events start taking place. I don't want to spoil any of it for you, but the imagery is some of the most powerful in comics today - and that includes the stuff coming out of the studios!
Be sure to check out Bloodhound, one of the sweetest comics ever made - especially on Drunk Duck!

Holy crap, I've been so super busy at work lately that I haven't even had time to talk about my comic in the forums!
Page 25 went live on Monday for Temple with a little more detail about Julian and Shiri, and today's page leads into the next action sequence. Since the last action scene was pretty bloody, can you begin to imagine how I'll try to top it off this time around? ;)
Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

Alrighty, Temple updated again with a little posturing, leading into a fight sequence that starts on Monday! Be there!
Also, I'm looking for some Fan Art for this Friday - the person who was going to submit had to bow out for personal reasons. Remember that you get a link and a mini-review of your comic if you submit fan art, as a 'thank you' for taking the time. Hey, I'm more than willing to help spread the love.
