One of my characters has a huge chaingun. Like the kind Ahnold has in Terminator 2. Anyone has any ideas what its sound fx would be like on full auto? Semi auto? A few shots?

I'd go with 'Brakk', 'Brapp', or 'BrakaBrakaBraka' (and just have it lining the page.

Hi y'all. After perusing the suggestions, I'm currently thinking
WHRRRACHACHACHACHAKK--!!
Because Ahnold's minigun did have that mechanical "chhhhhhh" whine to it, rather than the WW2 machinegun's "kakakakakaka" stucatto sound.
However, for pure aural impact, maybe it's better to keep the "kakakakaka"? As in

A lot of people use "budda budda budda", but that might be a more... minigun or uzi-ish sound.

I don't normally think of a chaingun as having a semi-auto sound at all... short bursts, sure though. I'd say just make a short "WrrKAKAK" for that. For full auto I think the letters should be big and continue to the edge of the panel.

the gun starts up spining a blank revolution...wwwrrrvvvvhmmmmckckchsssss....its flexed and ready for hardcore action, the spinning mechanisms gearing up for battle serve to distle fear into the enemy. i picture the character smoking a cigar on top of a hill, some sort of post end of the world scrap heap of concrete and cars, streets signs and rubble. you get a close up of your characters hand *snap* the safety is off.
