Hello everyone!

I just recently found out about DrunkDuck.com, and have been making my way through various awesome comic strips ever since. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to post a strip that I've had done for a while, but haven't put online yet. It's called The X-Heroes. It's a kind of twisty superhero comic. Here's the strip:

Here's the official setup:

"The X-Heroes are the longtime protectors of America. They have saved Seattle from the viciousness of Slithor, Washington DC from the infectiousness of Vozom, and New Orleans from the repulsiveness of Mr. Wiggles. Not to mention starring in commercials for Roca Cola and St. Neverstop Batteries, and their own series of action films directed by Marty Powrad. Aided by a never ending supply of wondrous weaponry from The Scientist, if it's possible to be too good at your job then the X-Heroes were. After the action films were slowly run into the ground (finally concluding painfully with "The X-Heroes Conquer Mars" and super villains became scarcer, The X-Heroes found that they had battled their way into a corner. Having spent literally every penny they made on super model girlfriends, jet packs, mansions, and flying hot rods outfitted with laser guns, our heroes are now out on the street and are going to have to get creative to find a way just to survive."

And here's a sample image:

The X-Heroes isn't what it looks like at first, so make sure you stick around... and please let me know what you think about my art and storytelling style. I'm trying to do something different with this. It will hopefully be pretty inventive, in addition to being decent technically.

There is also a MySpace page, if you're into that kind of thing:

Thanks!
Colin

Looks pretty cool so far, and sounds like a good idea. Reminds me of X-statix. Not sure about the idea of having an X in the title, since it kind of makes it sound like a Marvel spin-off, which it isn't, but I guess it works from the point of view of them being 'ex-heroes'. Nice vibrant colours and artwork that's well above average. I'm thinking this'll be one I'll keep checking back on.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm a huge Mike Allred fan, I think that's pretty apparent. I wasn't sure about the "X" either, but I couldn't think of a better joke so I just bit the bullet and used it. It's kind of a parody anyway, so it also makes sense from that angle too, I guess...

This is the first thing I ever really tried to color. I have a hard time with color. I tried to make the backgrounds kind of dull so that the bright superhero suits would jump out and look out of place. I'm a big fan of anything hand made, and your colors look fantastic!
