I've had this comic for about 1 and a half years now... I'm sad I missed it's first birthday D:

Right now I'm nearing the end of chapter 4 (the last scene of the chapter is just starting), I've already drawn most of chapter 5 and I want to collect me some crits before I start working on drawing the second book, which will be pretty soon!

Thus... any comments or crits?

You want a critique? Okay, I'll give one, but say I didn't warn you. I can be pretty damn brutal in my most basic form. *Perches glasses firmly on end of his nose, combs hair fussily, prepares a hideous tie, and finally dons an itchy brown tweed suit* Okay, I'm ready. I'm gonna do my little take in the form of a review, such as one I'd use when telling my friends about it or for publication.

Give Me the Sky is a fantasy comic that centers around the adventures of several young people with extraordinary talents and abilities. In a nutshell, it is what every Final Fantasy fan wants in a comic, with strange magic, bizarre creatures, and plenty of character development. It features a well-developed world and a sizable plot, even though it is currently in its first book.

The strong points:

*Well crafted characters that really capture your imagination.
*A strong story filled with questions waiting to be answered.
*Beautiful artwork filled with detail and polish.
*Color that turns the story into a vivid tapestry, making it stand out from a crowd of lesser comics.
*Plenty of action, keeping you excited and tense throughout.

The low points:

*Poor direction. While the story is excellent, it flows jerkily at times, some incidents occurring with an abruptness that is often disorienting. It sometimes feels as though pages are missing from the entire story, leaving out little tidbits that could help enlighten you.
*Occasionally annoying angles. The artwork is beautiful, there can be no doubt, but occasionally it is hampered by the frequent use of distance shots. A few close-ups during emotional moments, to help spread the feelings of the characters, would be appreciated.
*A poor beginning. This however is apparently a minor point, as the opening prologue is being rewritten. In the meantime, figuring out what's happening could prove to be a challenge for the neophytes.

Final score: 4 out of 5.

*Removes annoying tie and shucks jacket as though it were on fire* Well that's it. Sorry if my bluntness and utter truthfulness upsets you. When asked to review something I cannot be less than honest.
A Roll of the Dice now with full-size pages!

John Clyde now with ten times the tacky Hawaiian shirts!

Wow, LOL.
I wasn't expecting that XD

I realise all the negatives and I am trying to fix them... The prologue, I assure you, in it's newer form is much MUCH easier to read and A LOT easier to understand ^^;

I'll try and take into account what you've said about the distance shots and direction - I agree completely after reviewing a few pages and will try to improve it ><
I find what tends to happen is I forget what my readers do and don't know XD

But thanks so much Steely Gaze, this is much appreciated ^^

Now, I've never given any actual critiques--because I'm no good at it--but I decided since I enjoy GMTS so much, I might as well try. (Hell, why not.)

I really like Give Me the Sky. I saw it when it was spot-lighted on the DD front page and was intrigued by the look of it. I checked it out...And I admit I didn't understand the prologue--and I almost stopped reading it then and there--but I stuck with it and found a story growing that I could comprehend and enjoy. It feels like there's an actual world being created here, with REAL characters. Heck, I even had a dream about it shortly after reading it! (Don't ask.) I love the art and the colors--they really helped to 'draw' me in...(Second time I've used that pun. I gotta stop.) Nigbun has put a lot of work into GMTS, and is even working on re-doing the prologue! I gotta say, Give Me the Sky is really awesome, and I hope it continues for a long time...(Because I like it so much.)
