Figure drawing from imagination is tricky.
I still suck at it. Extremely hard.

Foreshortened poses are always difficult. :(

Accepting advice from others is one of the hardest things you can do though, especially when it's unwelcome.

QFT.

But honestly? That's how I first started to even want to get better. Because I was in a stage where I thought my art was decent, and everybody seemed to like it, so I couldn't see the flaws. Unless you can take critiques, you'll automatically assume they're just being a dick.

But they may actually be right, despite how cool your art is.
Just gotta work on it, step-by-step, man.

And don't give up, that's the worst thing you could do.

Kroatz
I challenge everyone to post some shit of their own, I'll tear it apart.

Is this some sort of....D-D-D-D-D-DUEL!?!?

Actually its not an excuse. I know I'm bad at forshortening, I was merely stating why it was the way it is. -shrugs- don't blow up at me. I'm not jumping down anyone's throats about the critique, thats what Kroatz did not me.

I simply gave my reasoning for why the hands were like that. And please don't be a dick and say I'm cutting corners, I really don'tknow how to do proper foreshortening, this is one of my best attempts so far. I'm still working on it, the critique is appreciated, I'm not saying theres no flaws in it, I see flaws in everything I do, I was simply, and only giving what I was trying to do there. So please don't flame me out, because Kroatz decided to play gallant knight.

And Ozones right, it is hard accepting advice when not expecting it, but theres one thing that peeves me off.

"It has no arms"

"Nose is weird"

Thats all fine and dandy, but thats not critque, thats just naming off crap.

"Grass is green"

"Sky is blue"

If you're going to give a problem, give a possible solution, your forshortening thing was better, as it actualyl gave some advice, hints at how to get better.

Nobody can get better from

"The nose is weird."

So is the nose of several humans, what I'm saying is, if you're going to critque isn't better to actually critique and not nitpick without giving any solutions? Otherwise you're just making fuel for people to jump the gun. Just saying.

The shadows you made on the nose didn't make sense since the eyes were glowing. Shouldn't the light eliminate the shadow? Since there are two light sources(both eyes), the shadows should run along the middle. Does that help you?

And since we're on the topic of eyes, how did you get those eyes to glow like that, anyway? I found that pretty cool.

Now thats what I'm talking about, I'll look into the shadowing problem next time.

The eye glow is on a seperate layer than the lineart and colors, it's an overlaying layer, where the color of the glow is applied with a soft low opacity setting. (23% or something) and added over the eyes, for some colors, you can get a better a effect but using the dodge tool afterwards. Some I've found out however, are not effected by it.

I should get a wacom. I'd definitely get cleaner looking art, but right now I'm poor. Those intuos are pretty damn high quality.

Bamboos are only $100 or less. Not too shabby, and it performs pretty well too. And tbh, the working size isn't THAT big of a deal.

In my opinion, the smaller the better. I have two wacoms, one is huge, and it sucks to work with. A simple wrist flick becomes a long drag.

I wish I had the money, but since being a freshman in high school does not open many money making opportunities, I'm in a bit of a problem.

The DrunkDuck Store would be a good way to make money if people actually bought stuff from there.

When I saw this one, it looked a little off to me. I think the problem here is that the characters meld into one form, and it looks like they are one mass. Maybe if one character had a lighter or darker skin tone or shadowing/highlights, it might help to separate the forms more. It also might help to not have the shadows that are there not look so uniform as they do now.

It's actually pretty good in my opinion. You can still get really thin lines to really thick lines, so I can't really tell the difference.

Dude, do you know what you're doing? Your critiquing people's critiques. LOL

I think you need to chill out. Even if someone gives you their observations, they can still be of help. They may not know how to fix something, but they know if something looks wrong. If enough people say this looks weird, well then... you know you gotta work on it. Why so defensive? :/

sketchy sketch. Was testing a shadow style. I know alot of the flaws, and I know it's very flawed. Sketch random. That is all.

That's a bit harsh, it's just his style. Anatomy is for wussies.

This is why I'm barely even on drunkduck anymore, people that have no idea how the human body works telling other people that have an equally lacking knowledge of anatomy that they're awesome, and SCREW DEM HATERS. I'm sorry if you really know how the human body works any alteration you will make will look natural and logical, and if it doesn't then thats wrong, and I see your post further down about "PICKING ON" dear god get a grip, its about helping, though it may be harsh its about right from wrong not, "GOD I HATE IT WHEN STUFF IS STUPID LIKE THAT YOU DRAW SO LAME YOU FAG" its hey, this is wrong you should correct this in the future or atleast make it look right rather than hiding it behind fancy schmancy color work and shines.

That being said you have a nice concept of what colors go well together my biggest comment would be that all your various drawings seem to have the exact same feel, apart from women and men, women seem to have all the same features and the same personality (except for the hairstyles and clothing obviously) and generally it all feels the same. And the feel is important, because without a large spectrum of feeling it all feels dead and dull. Anatomy definately needs work though, especially the male ones, abs don't work like that they really don't. As far as the female bodies they're pretty decent but they feel a bit doll like in that they're very disconnected at the joints, they don't feel like the whole floating gracefull thing that a female body is, you've gotta remember that inside us everything is connected the various bones connect and create a whole and that should reflect on the body outside aswell.
