I'm not going to get into a whole rant about how it isn't the same as the first two, because that's well established. I am, however, going to outline the changes I see and tell you what I think. Of course, I don't own the game but I've tried it out so my opinion should be creditable.

The new character looks:

I just hope it doesn't go the same way as Sonic did. A lot of the characters ahve gotten graphical updates, and most are an improvement. But some, well...thier personality has also changed.

Did you see the new Humba Wumba? I think Rare did that just to appeal to the Xbox crowd. Smart move, mates. even I'm interested. Ahem... moving on.

The plot

From what I know, the plot is an improvement, it builds on the previous game, like Rare always does, and keep the epicness. I think they did an alright job of explaining why the duo lost their powers, but it was sad to see them go. Rare does its best again with the promises that they keep through character text.

Easter Eggs and the sort

Remember in B-K, where you were in Mad Monster Mansion seeing loggo for the first time? He helps banjos despite grunty's threats, and as she promised: He appeared in the men's washroom in Grunty Industries in B-T. It's these little things that make me appreciate Rare, and overlook the shame that is Grabbed by the Ghoulies (The title gives me chills). (Spoiler) In Banjo Tooie, Klungo has his own little cut scene at the end of the game where it shows that he left Grunty's crew and decided to run his own business. Maybe even ssssssssstupid video gamessssssss. Guess what, in Threeie, he does. Some sort of Game Emporium.

All in all, I wish I had played the entire game before giving my final analysis, because I believe that I couldn't really spoken a lot again those who hate the new way its being run.

Thoughts?

I always kind of had a little grudge against RARE, and it may have something to do with the poor balancing and unforgiving difficulty of Battletoads... But I think most of all it was just RARE's design sense in the 90's. They looked like they were trying to make their stuff look like Pixar, but with no sense of balance and mass distribution, and the googly eyes were out of control.

They proved themselves competent in game design, but partway through the first Banjo-Kazooie I realized I was tired of playing a straight-up collect-a-thon. It WAS a well-made game, though. The thing is, after Mario 64 everyone was trying to do the same thing, and half the games on the N64 were about traversing a low-poly world trying to find 10 of this or 50 of that. We can at least say RARE was one of the best.

I was happy to see RARE update Banjo's design for this game. It's still not perfect, but it shows better design sense. However, the videos and reviews just haven't been able to convince me to get it yet. And it really should, considering I'm kind of a Nintendo guy and it should be up my alley. I'll bet after I get some of my current games out of the way, I'll give the game a shot. While it looks like you're still essentially collecting things, it feels like each thing you collect serves an immediate purpose for the car you're assembling. That sounds kind of fun.

Resurrecting old franchises, even though it's only about a decade old, doesn't bode all well to my mind. 'Course, it might be a very decent game and all, but myself I'm gonna sit here like a grumpy critic and watch with skepticism. Then probably try it out just for the heck of it and find it to be not half bad after all.

I was rather skeptical about Nuts & Bolts when I got it. I've always been a fan of the original two games (Tooie was quite possibly one of the most amazing games of my younger years).

When I began playing, things started rather slow due to the naturally limited inventory of building parts, but as my inventory expanded I started having a blast. I began challenging myself to make vehicles with certain self-given limitations just to prove that I could... alongside crafting the perfect vehicles for every jiggy challenge in the game.

I do have the complaint that after the first world or two, the Jiggy and Jinjo challenges became rather repetitive save for the random different challenge here and there, but I usually got over it with my vehicle restriction challenges.

The game itself ain't bad to me. But I will say that it isn't for everyone. I've got a thing for building and creativity, so I've had a blast with the game, but not everybody would share my enthusiasm.

I like this game. I was disappointed initially that it was geared so much at making the vehicles and not at all like the gameplay of the original two. Then I found myself making vehicles non-stop. Needless to say they're all bulky and unconventional like my doubledecker plane that always tips over, but I had fun. I love the graphics too.

I can play anything though.

Hehe, I had the same thoughts initially. I got what I didn't expect and ended up enjoying it!

Never liked it when it was on the N64. Don't like it now.
