He's visually a bit like Spider-Man, but it's been admitted that he's a knock-off of some character whose name starts with death. Deathlok, Deathstroke, something like that. I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look it up.

The comparison many make is to Deathstroke. Even their names are similar (Slade Wilson VS Wade Wilson) but Deadpool's character became vastly different (which some people credit to writer Fabien Nicieza).
