I shall take on the challenge! Here we go:

CAUTION: PROFANITY

Issen stumbled out of the broken alley, the haze of washed out light falling gently on his frame. The sedative Rhync shot into his system made his mind foggy and languid. Brown shapes slide in and out of his vision and he vaguely wondered if they were even real or just hallucinations from the drugs. It had been so long since he'd had something so foreign in his system, it was like when he was young, when he was so naive. Issen found that he didn't really care. Those sedatives were really kicking in, even the wound in his side had subsided to a dull thobbing.

Issen didn't really know where he was. He wasn't used to the city; it had been eight years since he'd last been inside the walls. The small, close walls almost made him feel claustrophobic compared to the open wasteland of the realm outside the city. The dogs had run off somewhere. Rhync had scared them with his knife, and they didn't like the smell of their friend's blood.

The long-haired young man slumped against the cold bricks of a building, his vision coming and going arbitrarily. Issen grit his teeth and pressed his arm to his wound, fresh blood leaking out onto his clothes. Soft, echoing footsteps caused Issen to look up, seeing a white blot in the distance. He recognized the pattern of the footfalls, and there weren't many people who wore a lab coat like that. Hell, his stink gave him away.

He paused a few paces away.

"What the hell do you want, bastard?" Issen snarled.

"You really should get that looked at," came the reply.

"Fuck you, it's only a flesh wound." Issen bit back. "I've had worse." He heard Rhync sigh.

"I'm not the bad guy you make me out to be. You're just directing your anger to the wrong person."

"Why the fuck shouldn't I hate you? You fucking abandoned us. You... you..." Pain stabbed at his body in a web of pangs. He couldn't speak for a moment.

"Issen, we are not going through this again. You're hurt and drugged, go find some help," Rhync sternly said.

"Of course, just tell me to you bastard."

Rhync rolled his eyes and tightened his grip on his bag. He was tired and he just wanted to get home.

"Whatever, I tried," The scientist muttered, turning to go. Issen growled and launched his aching body at the man. Rhync barely saw him coming out of the corner of his eye and turned just as the boy came in contact. Rhync's arm swung around with the bag, splinting down the seam as it hit Issen on the back. Issen went down with a gasp while two jars of peanut butter flew into to the air and smashed on the ground.

"Asshole!" Rhync cried, kicking Issen off his foot and gathering the broken bag into his arm. He took off at a run. 'Doesn't he know how expensive Peanut Butter is these days?'

Rhync had thought he could finally indulge in such things with the little money he could round up. It wasn't so.

~

Damn, that was kinda hard! Haha, hopefully you can pick out my lame attempt at the Monty Python reference. Yay for expensive Peanut Butter?

((I know this is late, but I figure you need more than one story. ^_^ Jenshin's gonna kill me for this... Oh well. The allusion is a little less-known and not from the Holy Grail, but is my favorite Monty Python skit.))

Issen walked through the shadows the moon cast like they were veils of something other than air. Each halting step made it more and more obvious that he was not at his best, and more likely to falter with every advance. He tripped. It wasn't hard to do in his condition. And that fatal step sent him sprawling onto the earthen sediment that had idly built up over the sidewalk's surface. He groaned, pressing a hand beneath him to move, but found himself unable to lift the frame of his body from the ground. With a silent curse to his stupid self, he rested his forehead on the cement and waited.

It was nearly to the second moon's setting before Rhync found him. He nelt beside him silently, resting a hand on the once-human's shoulder. When the only response suffered was a flinch, Rhync shok his head and with a force more gentle than an enemy should use, levered Issen up against the alley wall.

Issen's eyes focused on the face of his savior- his tormentor- his reason for being the way he was. But he couldn't find it in himself to react in any other way than to let his head fall to the side.

Rhync sighed, both hands at Issen's shoulders, holding him rather than pinning him. "You can't blame me for doing my job, Issen. Rationality would tell you that if you just listened..."

When there was no response, Rhync pulled one hand away to fish in the folds of his coat for something. Out came a small box, which he placed on the ground at his side, fumbling to open it with only one hand. In it were small crackers. He held one up in front of Issen's field of vision and smiled. "You remember these?"

His memory flashing, the wounded man could only nod slightly in response. They were no better than dog treats- but they were what kept Issen alive in his younger years.

Rhync offered it closer to him, but Issen turned his head away, "I couldn't possibly..."
Rhync refused to be dejected. "It's wafer-thin!"

Finally he accepted, taking the cracker, chewing it painstakingly before swallowing, the barest traces of a smile spreading on his face. He whispered, "Ah... peanut butter.... you always knew my favorite..."

Rhync pulled the man to his feet- realizing how much easier it had been in the past when he was naught but a boy, and with an arm drapped around him, he dragged Issen home.

~*~Fated Feather~*~
Pirates, art history, and time travel- things could get messy.

" It's wafer thin!!" The meaning of life :-D

That was lovely Iago.
Lets extend this thing. A weekly challange is fine if we're getting lots of entries, but it's not that popular right now. I'll put something in when I'm not too busy myself.

Mazoo has issued another challenge, so in order to keep things fresh we should move on. But Two moons is still open and I AM going to put my own story in. So should others!
