I was big time druggie back in HS and I feel like I should write a story about it, I'm clean now and in college, I wanna share my experiences with drugs, what do you think?

I've always been curious bout drugs, it came from a dissatisfaction in life, I've always hated how boring mine was, my mediocre friends could hardly be called friends, more like acquaintances, I've lived a lonely sheltered life. My first drug was marijuana, I unwittingly sat in the same table as a dealer on the first day of high school and became kinda friends with him, not really but kinda. Eventually like all kids, we ran out of conversations to talk about in my table and we moved on to talking bout drugs, I made a few jokes, we laughed and I sarcastically asked him for some weed, I thought nothing of it, I've always been curious about weed but never knew any dealers, I was always a good, honors/AP student. Two days later, he asked me if I was serious about the weed, surprised at the question I said yes, curiosity killed the cat and all.I paid $10 for a dime bag of some really bad ditch weed but as my first "high" it was amazing, I smoked by myself of course when no one was home at night when my parents were off at work, I had the greatest high I ever remember in my life then. I started dropping in school as I wanted more and more pot and made some good friends who were like minded when it came to drugs. I however was a whole other level than them, they did it for fun recreationally, I did it all the time and everytime, it helped me get through the day. The next thing I did was drink, people brought booze to school all the time, especially vodka in water bottles and I followed suit, I was always drunk or high in school, it was what got me to go through the day, I was getting lower grades in school and sometimes even skipping entire weeks of school, always alone, I liked being alone, it made me feel special in a way. I first discovered pills when my mom had surgery on her arm and was prescribed to it, I told myself I would never abuse pills but one day early in the morning I was studying for a test the next day by myself and curiosity got a hold of me. I took hydrocodone the first time, it was amazing, I was able to think so clearly and amazingly, I was relaxed, it was like being high or drunk but I was able to think straight while on it. I then moved on to oxycodone, still was my mom's but I was really enjoying stealing a few pills here and there from her, it was a kind of rush for me. See my parents are really conservative and doing things like this would freak them out, and that gave me a rush, a kind of rebel feeling. Xanax was my next drug, my dealer friend from lunch happened to swipe it from his source when he was getting some more product and gave it to me for free because no one wanted to mess with that stuff, everyone was content with their booze or pot but not me, I wanted to go above and beyond, this was my field of expertise, where I shined, it was something only I could do or was involved in. I took xanax every day in school when I built up a tolerance to oxycodone, I alternated between the two in order to control my tolerance, I threw a bit of weed and booze in there for good measure, sometimes mixing weed with the pills but never booze, I was always safe, I thought this made me smart, clever to know what to do and not do with drugs. I wasted a good chunk of my own and my parent's cash on drugs back in those days. I lived on these drugs those days, it's how I got through the days, my old good friends thought I was dangerous and I liked the feeling of being feared but I never had any real close friends because of this, and it was only sophomore year.

This is just a summery, I want to expand on it but what do you think so far?

I think it sounds really really badass and i'd love to read a comic about it :) so long as you don't include psychedelia mushroom land representation of 'high' every damn time(that's what always ticks me off about movies that deal with drugs, i know what's going on in the psyche is important but your character riding an el camino through outer-space with rainbow pimples means nothing to a sober person)

gotta disagree with skullbie.. playing with surrealism is fun, and rarely is there an excuse for it, except in drug-comics or mental ward comics. Just as long as this hypothetical depiction isn't your generic 'trippin' stereotype...

I would read it if it were well-drawn and well-written... hehe. meaning make sure to plan it out, and if you can't draw, learn. it sounds like a great idea!! and feel free to pq me when you post it, I'd love to see how it comes out!

Well surrealism doesn't have to be the stereotypical drug trip montage, I think that's what Skull's referring to. Like, fallin' into a switly hole with floatin' heads all around you, or one of those silly "all the sudden a giant rabbit starts talking to ya" or something to that effect.

For this kind of thing, I'd tend more towards "magical realism" if I were doin' it. I'd like to see something like that be gritty, have dark humor, chronicling the dichotomy of "crazy f**kin' times!" adventures and the hollow desperation and danger of drug use.

But yeah, done the right way, I'd read it.

SOmething with a drug induced surrealism would be a fun read!I would read it. Just as long as it's well written and the like, just as Kristen and the others have said. I love that type, espesially when it messes with your own sense of reality.
