A friend and I are creating a website, that will hopefully be reasonably popular eventually, and we're considering having a 'comics recommendations' page. It will only be for comics with a certain theme (sorry for being vague, but right now we're not telling people what we're doing).
The deal would be something like... while we're setting up the popularity, we'd let you have banners on our comic page, for free, in return you would mention somewhere where your readers can read it, that you've been linked on our site. You could probably have a demo comic up as well, which if people would click on it, they'd be able to read more of it. (You could organise with us to change the demo comic on some sort of regular basis, to fit with your changing talents)
Later on, when we're more popular, there'll be a fee of some sort that you would pay us, and hopefully we'll be able to get you some more traffic.
Does anyone here think that this sort of deal would work?

People do link exchanges all the time, so I guess it could work, but I would suggest the fee only for comics you advertise on the front page. See, not everyone who comes to your site will go to the recommendations page, so the fee could just be wasted money occasionally and if people see that, then they would be reluctant to add their link or advertise your site without anything in return.
Would you consider linking to Age of Ends or Warriors of the Night (Click the banner in my sig to see that one)

No, not everyone will go to the comics page, but I can't advertise it on the main page. But I'm hoping that I'll get a pretty big readership, and that it'll be beneficial to both of us. And it'd only be a small fee, or at least that's the plan.
One way that I'm hoping people will be more likely to go to a comics page on my site is by keeping it really well updated.

You should probably get the website up and running before you ask for peoples opinions. It's hard to judge whether you'll use something if you don't really know what it is.

I'm still curious about this, and the website is still coming.
