An Alabama woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say she injured a child while dragging it through a store in Rome. According to Floyd County Jail records: “Melissa Catherine Smith-Means, 37, of Gaylesville, Ala., was arrested by Rome police around 12:30 p.m. She was charged with felony first-degree cruelty to children. Police say she was observed by customers and employees at a store on Broad Street, dragging a small child around by a backpack leash. The child had visible marks on the neck from the incident.”

She remains in jail without bail.

Actually the kid is dragging her, the video was just reversed.

If you watch the clip for longer you see the boy can not only play dead, but also roll over and beg!

Whatever happened to parents just beating the shit out of their kids when they misbehaved? Products like the "child leash" just lead to parental laziness.

Is that kid just treating it like a game though and the people taping and watching being prissy busy-bodies?
Maybe the woman IS a monster, but I've seen a lot of little kids who would think it was great fun to cause consternation and bewilderment to an adult by doing that sort of thing AND get a free ride around a slippery floor at the same time.

Seriously, real child abuse is wrong, but children aren't little delicate blameless perfect doves. We were ALL kids once and we all know we were little shits at times. Be honest.

Man, I would've loved to have gotten an adult in trouble this way.

I'm with Hawk and Chern. What's the context? Without that this vid can mean anything. Maybe she viciously bashed the poor child unconscious and that's the reason she's dragging it like that? We don't know.
