First off.... I'm an Apple user. I do 99% of my drawing in photoshop.
Being not exactly rich in the financial sense of the word, I was considering getting an el cheapo PC laptop to take on the go for drawing... But this also means, I can't afford to get a PC version of Photoshop, either (if i could do that, I'd just buy an apple lap top, sheesh!). So, my other consideration would be the free rout: the GIMP.
My question is for any windows users of the gimp who also draw with wacom tablets..... does the GIMP for windows support pressure sensitivity? I know that the OSX version does not. Also, any recommendations.... Not exactly a crisis situation, but I'm curious.

I haven't used it in a while, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

I dunno about GIMP, but el cheapo laptops are gonna have a hard time running any hardcore graphics programs for more than an hour or so.

Try it.
Really what do you have to lose? It's free-
Also I use GIMP- I got 92 layers one time before it froze up, and added another 70 later. My computers very el-cheapo, so it shouldn't be to great a problem.
Also if you're looking for the ultimate cheap drawing program try paint tool sai-it has demos i believe.

Good to know! And I check out that ultimate cheap drawing program hehe....
I re-read what I wrote earlier. I think maybe I want to rephrase it a bit (or i left it out): Does GIMP support pressure sensitivity in Windows for Wacom tablets? If it helps i have a Graphire4....

It didn't when I last used it. But it's possible they've added it since then.

I've got a laptop that runs windows vista and I use Gimp. I also use a Wacom, and pressure sensitivity seems to work fine.
So yes, to my knowledge, GIMP for windows (the latest distro, 2.4.5) supports pressure sensitivity.
