Will you (in the future) want your webcomic in printed form? Have you done it already?
It doesn't actually mean that you print it to sell or get found by a publishing place. Just print it out in someway you could read your webcomic in printed form.
going away - Comic Discussion (Print & Web!)
will you eventually print your webcomic?

I have. Fans have. I'm working on publishing it properly, since both me and my fans have.
Seems like a logical progression.

Yeah, I did that with my comic in it's first incarnation, and in it's second. Now I'm not doing comics at the moment, but the knowledge of how to go through with it is there. I used Lulu.com if anyone is interested.
Anyway it's really a nice feeling to have a print version of your comic. Makes ya feel a tad more professional even if you look back at it a few months later and go "Ugh, this stuff is tripe."

I've been working on it. My little brother is adament about me printing out a 100 page book of my webcomic and selling it at a Con. I'm not sure about the con but I am working on a printed version of my book through Lulu. I just want to have a printed copy of "The Pure Soul" sitting on my bookcase. I would just be fun to hold it in my hand and flip through it every so often, just to see the steady improvement of my art and my writing.

Printed my comic Demon Eater at lulu for my final in my drawing class last semester. It's not ready to be sold to the public yet.
Currently working on The Planet Closest To Heaven, formatting pages for it to be another lulu print. Going to be about 230 pages. Also making the TPCTH book to use for my portfolio review this coming spring semester.(comic won't get in the way of school haha.)
Not planning on selling DE at any cons but would like to sell TPCTH at this one local con I'm going to. (Costs so much to make probably have like two copies.)

Mmm..I've printed my past comics before, sold a few copies at a con. It was pretty cool. I'm definitely up for doing it again! I'm working on a small art book (The Gothic Lolita Alphabet) and also working at putting my comic into graphic-novel form. It'll be split into three books, I think, about 150pgs each with lots of extras. :3 I'm planning everything out pretty carefully..I've already got lineart for a few chapter break pages, author notes, and chapter listing pages, etc. I print through comixpress.com for the most part.
Since I managed to sell a few copies before, and my artwork has improved rather dramatically since then, I'm thinking I'll do even better sales next time around. My Uncle is also looking into starting a small time comic translating/publishing company, which would be really cool :D we'd been tossing the idea around together for years now, but he's actually started looking into it, researching, business planning, so we'll see how stuff goes from there.

I've had a few requests for a printed version, but I'm unsure as of yet what to do. Thing is that that FanDanGo is not a particularly well-known or popular comic, it has a handful of fans who are crazy die-hards. It'd sell about ten copies, to people who'd be really happy to have them, then after that, probably nobody else would buy it! Hahaha.
The main problem is that I'd probably have to re-scan at a higher dpi and size and redo the effects on every single page, and if I was just doing the first storyarc, chapters 1-3, I'd have to make the colour pages b/w for ease of printing too. I'd have to be sure it was worth the effort to make a printed version before making one.

Darth Mongoose... a word of advice... start remaking those pages sooner then later. Last year I had to rescan about 100 pages of my old work and this year still working on redoing the dialogue and effects for 200+ pages. It really hurts doing everything at once. Oh yeah and every new page you make: 300 dpi and final version before reducing the size for web, save as Photoshop document PSD(or just save it as a really big jpeg? Don't quite know the best method if you don't have photoshop).
Trust me: having your webcomic book in your hands... to sell or not.. it's awesome. Being able to show it to non-internet people. Oh man my final critique last semester, showing Demon Eater in print, everyone was passing it around and reading it, they were just blown away! Seeing people get excited turning the pages. It's really a cool experience. You are going to want to see your webcomic in print.

You know, people keep asking about a printed version of Mixed Myth. D= I swear, I'll get to it! It will eventually be up on Lulu. However, it was my first webcomic- I had no idea what I was doing, so much of the archive is at a poor resolution, and the text needs to be completely redone as they are not free use fonts....and no, I didn't save it with any kind of layer system, so it's like surgery trying to replace it.
So far, I have about 150 out of 500 done.
Metrophor should convert to print much more easily now that I know what resolution to work at and how to approach it.

Oh, heck yeah! Eventually. That's what Lulu.com is for, right?
Perhaps I can print the superhero comic issue-by-issue, or 3 issues per print, or something.
It's nice to have a solid version of your work in your hands, at any rate.

I've had people ask for posters of my work on fantasy art sites, but I can't remember anyone ever asking for a Pinky TA printed comic... Nope, can't recall that. I think I'd be wasting my money if I published it. If it ever happes I'd rather someone else paid for it and took th risk, if that were possible. I'd rather a company did it... But I've never approached anyone and no one has ever approached me, so it seems unnlikely.

I've thought about it. But I think that I would wait until people actually started requesting a print copy of my comic. I've also thought of making a separate graphic novel-type story based on How Unfortunate and selling it through Lulu.com. But that's probably not going to happen for quite some time.

i'm actually doing mine thinking of print, so I'm purposefully subjecting myself to all the restrictions and regulations of a print comic (page count must be in multiples of four, minding right and left pages, and I have a definite page limit for each chapter)
Once I finish a chapter, I'll print it so I have it in my bookshelf, just for the fun of it. Photocopies, probably. I won't invest in professional printing until I get a serious offer (if ever) but I want to be able to show it to someone without having to turn the computer on.

It would be too awesome for words to have Silvershot printed. Unfortunately, it's still pretty new with not much of a fan base. Perhaps in a year (or three) when it gets known, i'll have a shot. But i'd definately do it if given the chance.

I can't print mine out, because I've been drawing them at little-DPIs.. I can't seem to handle 300 dpi. it's just so... big! I never know what things look like at 100% it's far too big to get a "gestalt" view, and at a lower percent, the image is distorted so I can't tell if my lines are clean or not. gyaah!!!
Anyway, I'm not good enough yet to even consider printing. But I'd like to someday, just for fun.
So JillyFoo, when you do it at 300 DPI, what size do you make your pages? Do you decide it in inches? And if so, how many inches? And is your comic book of Demon Eater in color? It's gotta be... wow.. that must be awesome!!! Wow! And it was your final for drawing class? Did you have a critique of it? Did people take the storyline into account, or just the drawings/layout?
wow, lotta questions... ^^
congrats on self-publishing though~!!

So JillyFoo, when you do it at 300 DPI, what size do you make your pages? Do you decide it in inches? And if so, how many inches?
DPI isn't the size of the page necessarily... it's the amount of data in the page to make detail or so I think...
I scan them at 300dpi, then mess with them, and then save before shrinking them to 900 pixels for the internet page. I save two versions, the photoshop doc version not shrinked at all and the internet page version which is 900 pix high jpeg. Lulu.com uses many different page size requirements so I can't be specific... The demon eater comic I actually scanned most of the pages at 200dpi but used photoshop image size to make it to 300. Photoshop is a pretty reliable way to work with that dpi stuff.
Kristen Gudsnuk
And is your comic book of Demon Eater in color?
Demon Eater print is in color. Lulu's color pages at about 3X the price of black and white, but it's also done with better quality paper and ink. Looking at my black and white TPCTH print the pages are really thin and the lines aren't as crisp. I'm not sure if it was a problem on my part or simply: I got what I paid for.
Kristen Gudsnuk
And it was your final for drawing class? Did you have a critique of it?
I did get a critique in class. The book was passed around. People mostly skimmed through it. Some read all the chapters. I say I got a good reaction. It wasn't as criticized as much because it wasn't manga styled, like another critique I had months before showing my TPCTH pages. Some thought the next step should be making an animation which probably won't be done.
Kristen Gudsnuk
Did people take the storyline into account, or just the drawings/layout?
Mostly the drawings. Some said they were creepy. One thought I should not do the comic all together and just have one of the pages blown up poster size like normal art. Content wise most of the ones that read it said they liked the story. Said it was pretty adult-like and dark despite the cartoony drawings.

It's been my dream to be published ever since I was six years old. I started writing a story, and I haven't stopped ever since. I've changed it, warped it, added in some extra gore (XD!) and, ta-dah! We have RAID as it is today. ^^
I've been writing this for 10 years now, so... Like hell if I'm going to stop. If I could get it published, well, it would be a dream come true.
Call it an obsession, I guess. XD;
I admit that it's most likely a problem...but not one that I want or need to fix. XD

I would love to have a comic published some day.
but none of my web comics, especially rainbow zombies. I personally see no need to have a webcomic published, when Its just as easy to log on and read, and well, more cost efficient all around. its expensive to get published. I can only see a webcomic get published if that person is truelly passionate about their comic, then let'em go for it.
otherwise, I wouldn't print my own webcomic. but, thats just me.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll try to get a more detailed version of Timothy Green published... but not now. Personally, I don't think Timothy Green in its current state could work all that well in print. (Just because I keep trying to make it flow like an updated-every-once-in-a-while-webcomic rather than a printed comic.)
I might, however, work on some spin-off stories that could work in print, and see if I could get them published. ( Probably some kind of printed version that would make people ask, "There's a webcomic, too?" ) I still have a lot of research to do before I get to that point, though.
