Why do you do it?

What drives you to do your art? What is it that makes you happy to do your art? I am making this thread to both learn something and to find out more about my peers. I do my art to Entertain others and i get joy out of that. But what makes you do it? let me know! :)

People suck, I suck, everyone sucks.
Escapism is awesome.
Art, literature, movies, games...
I like escaping from reality. Then I don't have to worry about those jackasses at school.

Same as LIZARD_B1TE actually. But also just because I like 'creating' and because my head is just FILLED with ideas and I try to get at least 10% of it on paper, or somewhere else so other's can see it. But the best ideas take too long, so I just wish I wasn't so lazy.

It's my personal belief that the most purposeful thing any human can do, and the only way to be truly happy, is to create something entirely their own, in any sense of the word. I think the reason so many people are unhappy these days is because the average person merely processes and receives information, never actually creating anything they can actually call their own creation.
Myself, I have a talent and inclination towards art, music, and writing, so those are my creative outlets.

It's just that happy feeling you get when you know you've created something kickass. Doesn't matter so much whether people like it or not, as long as I feel good about it.

I have alot ideas in my head. If I don't draw and write i wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Also I love to create characters and worlds.

I draw (not just make comics!) because it's a hobby of mine, and I like to be creative. :)
I even make music, Flash cartoons and art, which I keep in my online Gallery .

I'm in worship mode, and the best outlet is to draw the object of my obsession, so that the character lives on beyond the story that is given to me (by the original author/artist).
This is actually the impetus for all of my major periods of artistic drive.
It's not obvious unless I tell you, though. For one thing, I try my damndest not to Mary-Sue. This can be carried to the extreme: In college I started a comic about a girl I worshipped that I turned into a character in a story. But that character is basically pronounced dead by page 2 and it's actually the story of her lover and her daughter. And no, it's not because I hated her. It's for story's sake.

I love to tell stories, that's my main aim in life. My art helps facilitate that.

I do it to poke fun at my world and make it bearable. For some reason, I've set myself up a life that's full of rules & conformity- I'm in the Navy, I'm in nursing, I work for a large corporation. Rules and uniforms...
I mean, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't do any of that if I didn't like it. Being able to translate some of the more aggravating things (My cadet's parents bugging me , a stupid customer ) into a joke, it doesn't seem to bother me as much.

probably because it's something to do, and it's humanity's duty to create, etc etc etc. Also, it's fun because it's such an intense escape!!

Why do i draw? What drives me? I draw b/c it gets me away from everything; gives me a chance to go into my own world and get away from the annoying people of the world (mainly my school). I do it ta vent what I'm feeling too. Plus it's fun^^. The fact that I know there are better people out there than me is the driving force behind what i do. I GOTTA GET BETTEERRRRR!!!!!!

For the attention and internet fame.
Of course, in reality, I don't have either. But until I realize that, more comics!

Because at one point someone took it away from me. To prove them wrong I took it back for myself and all the people who believed in me over the last three years.
I'm a writer and a composer but I draw because it's the best way to tell my story. I write and the like because it gives someone else a place to go and maybe someone to relate to in their own hard times.

Because it makes me happy... I draw because I CAN.
Even if people say my artwork is stupid, nerdy, and it's 'fucking anime', it still makes me happy. I can't stand the bullshit people say to me. The art and the music proves that there's something going for me. I have had people tell me that they thought my artwork was ugly and I should stop. Fuck you! I'm not going to stop because you're an asshole!!!
Uh... Sorry about that.

Well..I draw mostly because I like knowing that I've given someone else something to smile about, or frown about, or feel something about, even if it's just for a few seconds. I'm not good at talking, so art is more or less how I communicate what I'm thinking and feeling to people. It makes me happy to see people enjoying something that I've done.

I like getting feedback from readers. Also, I'm a storyteller, and a bit of an emotional/artistic flasher. (heh pervy! not really..) I just for some reason feel this need to show everyone who I am and what I can do.

I am socially underdeveloped. I used to be picked on (am still really), I used to be friendless (not anymore) and I threw everything in my art. I 've been drawing since I could hold a pencil, since I had not much else to do... I read books too... I used to like a book more than socializing... Now it depends on the people I socialize with.
I'm not "weird"
I'm just psychotic
