Why do you check out your commenters' comics?

And by that I mean, what would inspire you to click through to the comic of someone who commented on your own? That's too long for the title, though. :D

Do you try and check everyone who commented's comic? Do you pick one at random when you're bored? Do you never at all?

For me, it's when someone has an interesting or well-drawn icon that seems to be from their comic. Comments with good grammar and spelling will encourage me, as that suggests the comic at the other end will have the same. Recognising a commenter from these forums will usually send me through to check out their comic. :)

What about you?

I check out all the comics of people who comment on mine - though I don't get to read them all even if I want to =( I have to make a note to come back.

When I have time, I try to go take a look at the comics of my fans, normally out of politeness, but half the time, I'm just looking for something interesting to read. That's how I found quite a few of the comics on my favorites list.
99% of people would've finished this sente

I also comment everybody's comic who has commented on mine.

If someone leaves a brief comment (or comments) on mine, I'll leave a brief comment (or comments) on theirs.
But if someone leaves meaningful comment(s) on mine, I'll leave meaningful comment(s) comment on theirs.

(But I haven't been doing that lately XP)

I don't get all that many comments; almost all my comments are from the same readers, and I read their stuff too, and comment on it.
For me, I'm more likely to check out someone's work if they either have a really nice-looking avatar, or a .gif file one (for some reasons those ones attract me like a moth to a flame!)
And if a commenter says something gut-bustingly hilarious, I'll check out his or her comic, in search of more hilarity.

Of course I check what they make. Not only for politeness, more because of my curiousity. I like to discover new things and I'm always looking for awsome new DD-titels. Not only when they comment on my comic, I mostly check out all the comics by forum-persons. A cool avatar makes me MORE interested, just like the kind of reply they give, but I simply just check all of them.

Avatars do catch my attention, but the thing that makes me absolutely have to check a commenter's comic is a stupid, non-cohesive, idiot's rant that has been left on my comic. It's not often when it happens, but it does.

I get off on confrontations like that. ^_^

For me, it's generally either a self-created avatar, or a smart comment. 'lol ur comic is pretty good.' is highly unlikely to get me interested in the commenter, though I sometimes have a look at what everybody's done themselves if I happen to be bored. I'm somebody who gets a number of readers by noticed by people after commenting on their comics myself. I guess I'd say it's a mixture of courtesy, curiosity, and occasionally, boredom, that makes me click a commenter.

I just check out people's sites out of curiosity. I'm more interested in their artwork than anything else, though. At the moment, I don't actually read any online comics.

I click on and check out people's comics if they comment on mine.

I usually don't check out comics if: They 5 me with no comment or if the advatar is a nonself-made sprite.

Depends on the comment. If someone takes the time to write out a nice comment that doesn't consist of "lol cool" or a blank rating, I'll usually go look at their comic and probably comment as well. If the art in their avatar catches my eye, I'm also more likely to go look at their comics.

If the comment is blank I take no action. If the comment has any merit to it I take a look and comment back if I feel the need to. I'm not a big commentor but try to make sure I say something, even if it's not profound. Leaving a 5 with no text just seems like advertising.

Avatars do catch my attention

...This is why I animated my avatar. :)

I often do. Because I'm bored, or simply because they took the time to read/look at mine.
