I had these ideas bouncing around in my head for years that I never did anything with. So, I decided to start a webcomic as a dumping ground and creative outlet.
Then these wonderful characters started showing up in the one-off strips I did. Then I thought, "hey, what would happen if I tossed these character together in one strip?"
And it's been great fun. Demanding, but fun. Haven't missed a week since I started over two years ago.

Drunkduck makes it easy.
Honestly, if I had to pay for hosting, I wouldn't be putting up any webcomics.
Also, DD makes it easy to have and to interact with readers, which is very important. A webcomic without readers (or the indication of readers) might as well exist in a vacuum or on your own shelf.

It's much easier to convince people to read my comics than it is to get them to read my stories (awesome, though said stories may be.)

There's just something about the comic format that allows for humor you couldn't get otherwise. Like a quick reaction change from one panel to the next is something that's hard to convey in any other medium. And the fact that comics are in snippets (at least comic strips that are in a defined world), lets you suggest the environment they are in instead of drawing and explaining every little piece of it.

I think I already posted here, but oh well lol.
My reasons are because it's what I enjoy doing and I hope that people will enjoy reading my comics as much as I like making them. If they do, then that's the best feeling ever, for me. :)

Because I draw and doodle and tell jokes all the time and finally after 20 years of trying to get print published with my serious story I just took my mediocre skills and the encouragement of my wife and friends and launched Hainted Holler. In 75 strips my art has improved noticeably and while I'm only pulling in about 75 to 100 hits a day it's something I love to do and makes me happier than any other hobby I've ever had.
Read Hainted Holler!! Love,Geeks,Rednecks,Baboons and Biscuits!!!!!!

Because my brain would explode if I didn't! I've had this idea in my head for about a year and a half, and only about a month ago I've gotten it going.

For FUN!
I started with some close friends, started adding some other people, and my community slowly kept growing.
Now I'm really excited to see just how large an audience I can accrue!

Started out working on my comic to practice, but now I get enough practice at work. The main reason I come back to it now is so I can make sure those stories get out there eventually. I don't like leaving things unfinished. Another possible reason might also be that it's quicker than animation, which is really where my interest lie, but it can be hard to put together any sort of long-running animation entirely on your own. I do have couple of pitch ideas, I'm working on, but I think the stuff I've already started as comics will likely stay as comics. At least with web comic series, I don't have to worry about licensing, appeasing studio execs, or the possibility of cancellation.

I love to draw... I love to tell stories... I love people read my stuff... and I love the whole damn thing about it.
At least, I'm telling something to a world wide audience and that feels good. So now, kids, have I ever told you of a story of a bear that laid an egg that hatched with robots inside?

I do a webcomic because it's alot cheaper than therapy. If YOU take a look at my screen name, profile and webcomic... you'll understand my comment... LOL!

Because I like to, I have stories to tell, and webcomics gives me oportunity to do so.
Plus, I still have this naive dreams of working form Marvel or DC in future and part of me still believes it's a good start. To be fair, the more I learn about mainsteram comics, the less like this idea.

I can't see myself going more than a week without making an RPS Comic. I think I'd be miserable. That's about it. I want my friends to see it, so I keep uploading them.

Wanted to have a more-focused creative outlet than random art, and I liked reading superhero comics when I was younger. Since I'm not at pro-level, webcomic is a great medium.

I've been on DD for a while I think ;) but I'm horrible at actually getting anything done. I've started and erased, started and erased and now I have three with little more than icons.
Still, I have stories in me wanting to express themselves in art. So, hopefully one day, I'll make it happen. Yay. :P

Normally a strip will spawn from an idea, a punchline or rant in my head. Something that I'd like to say, yet holds no relevancy in a typical conversation, so I then jot down a scenario to connect the dots. Combined with my favourite pastime of scribbling, making a webcomic merely allows me to express my off-centre, arseholish take on certain issues.

Practise, fun and profit. I love telling stories, and I love drawing. Thus, I draw comics. It's fun to be able to post it somewhere, because comics are meant to be read - and DD is a neat and simple place to post them.

Same reason filmmakers do films - they want to tell a story visually. It all comes down on what medium you decide to choose, whether they be conveyed through comic or film.

I love comics everysince I was eight I loved them. I could create entire worlds and civilizations just with a piece of paper and a pencil. I wanted to be like those guys who drew Batman and the Savage Dragon. I idolized them. So I've been taking it slowly I started making comic books at the age of eight and sold them to my friends till I was eight-teen, and then I took the next step and started showing my work online. So this is just the next stage in my life as a comic author/artist.

Some of the stories that pop up in my mind seem to lend themselves more to sequential art rather than just prose. Plus I like to draw :)
Often, I will make into a webcomic a story I am very committed to but still experimenting with enough not to feel it fully formed for the detail a book demands and which I want to illustrate anyway because I already love the character designs. XD It often will serve as a storyboard for bigger and more detailed lit works by yours truly.
Oh, and I like to draw.
