She talked all the time in the first one. You saw her face talking occasionally if I remember rightly.
I liked that version better. The poly count was lower, yes, but because of that the character was stylised nicely, all chunky and dynamic. Gave her a funky look. The more realistic versions are a little sad...

It was always hilarious to me when idiots mentioned the "unrealistic" size of her "bust". Jebus, it was a low polly count game character! As soon as complain about the "unrealistic" massive chests on the males.

Why is this a competition? Just because Sonic possesses innate abilities that would normally allow him to win a fight against Mario, doesn't mean he's a better mascot.

Also, Mario didn't have the ability to shoot fire in Sunshine. He actually did basically the opposite; he shot water. Still, he's had fire shooting abilities (or some way to acquire them) in Mario Galaxy, the Paper Mario Games, the Mario and Luigi games, New Super Mario Bros., and some derivative of them in most of the sports games. Speaking of New Super Mario Bros., that was a traditional Mario style game, with not only the traditional Powerup mushroom, but also the "Mega Mushroom", which makes Mario the size of the whole screen, and he can basically just destroy everything he walks across.

Mario's never been one to get too attached to powerups. It's been years since he's bothered with the whole Frog Suit thing, and it seems he can't decide if he wants to fly via raccoon tail, bunny ears, cape, winged hat, or just glowing hands. Just because he doesn't do some of the things he used to do doesn't make him a bad character.
