The first time I got my Billy Learns To Rock ideas was back in the year 2000. The Burnhams' ideas came earlier back in 1998.

So, Burnhams were born before BLTR.

How about you?

Enjoy... Las Vegas-y

The concept for Due East came to us in 1999, but we didn't start drawing it until early 2003.

I started my very first comic (the superhero one) in 1980 and maintained it (off and on) until late last year.

1991, the year my daughter was born. She was an early talker at 8 months and even gave me the title of the comic.

This year, January. I've been considering similar things for a while, but no real concrete concepts. I used to think about how cool it would be to have an artist bring my ideas to life and I'd come up with hypotheticals and stuff, but this year I decided to stop daydreaming and try to do something myself (at least I could come up with a collection of rough storyboards).

However, my main characters have been in the making for about three years. They are based on my roommates and I always sort of pictured them in a fictional setting. I knew that in a world of fiction, my friend Gael would be a ruthless assassin and hooked up with bad/sinister guys and that my other friend would be some sort of clumsy and annoying defender of justice.

Hard to say. Some of the characters in Bulletproof go back to stuff I came up with as a little kid. Atlas is a modified version of a character I created when I was... I dunno, I couldn't have been older than six. A lot of the older character designs are from highschool, but there are also recent ones like Blitz, whom I created last year. The idea to do a superhero comic titled "Bulletproof" with a rotating cast probably also goes back to highschool when I had a big spurt of creating a whole bunch of characters (mostly under the indelible impression of Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon), but really, the serious and manageable ideas that hold it together are maybe a little over a year old, all the stuff from when I was a kid is just the icing of the cake and is there because it's fun for me to include it.

Summer of 2006. I just quit drawing anime and started getting into the fur fandom around that time. I wanted to continue drawing anime, but I just wasn't into it that much anymore so I sort of... switched, if you will. The actual comic characters were put into work in September of 2006 and then from then on I just let the comic evolve on its own.
Updates Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's (depends).

Brood Knight and - Got those ideas as early as 1998. Back when I was an angsty teenager and more concerned about fitting in... getting a girlfriend... and all the angsty juvenile teenage stuff.

BK and - 2003. I was like... hey. why cant I do a prequel of the original stuff I had?

MAG-ISA - Early 2007 I've been cooking it up in my head. My thought pattern already changed at this point whether you call it "maturity" or "deterioration". Yep. I also noticed that a good number people who read this comic are a "different set" than those who read my older stuff.

(but there were some people who followed my stuff ever since... I love you all!!!)

I don't see how this is a topic... but...

FIGHT 1
Finished chapter 1 on Nov. 2001. Before the existence of DD.
FIGHT 2
Finished chapter 1 on Feb. 2007. Script was begun on Nov. 2006.

But the conceptual seed of these comics can be traced back to when I was 10-13 years old.

FIGHT current chapter: Filling In The Gaps
FIGHT_2 current chapter: Light Years of Gold

I came up with The Devon Legacy back in 1995

It went through a couple of name changes. Fathums, Chosen's Reign , back to Fathums, then just a bit before I went live on Drunk Duck I changed the name to "The Devon Legacy"

I have been formulating the story and characters ever since 95. This is my 5th remake. Only my 1st make of the comic back in high school made it past issue 1 =P
I made it all the way to issue 27 in high school.

Now with this remake I am working on issue 3. I will not remake again at this point XD I am content with the story I have laid out.

Read "The Devon Legacy".

The idea for Grandma Ninja came about in 2006 over a period of months while Brynna and I were out driving around on trips to the store, etc. I had just finished up an image called St. Martin's Fire . I was trying to figure out who this character was, and while bouncing around the concpet with my daughter, we started to develop the idea of a manga-like story with Father Martin.

Soon, he turned into a background character as we widened the storyline around this elderly lady who comes out of retirement and resumes being a ninja, and then goes on some adventures.

Since then, it's gotten a little out of hand...

I'm a writer through and through and the idea of the O'hewadrt family line from which the character of Sidwarrious is from came to me sometime in 2002. I tried to write a book about Silas(The supposed final antagonist in Mercs) and I always got something like 40 pages penned and then I just lost my lust for writing and after Sidwarrious was born in my storyline I fell in love with that character and penned 40 pages doing HIS book and lost my flair for writing. Garret Jax was born in 2004 or so, right the first week after Dungeon and Dragons came up with 3.5 because he was a friend of mine's first character and everything that happens in his backstory is from from the campaign I wrote and what he did. In 2005 when I met my current girlfriend she loved drawing Sid(not so much now but loves drawing Garret, his white afro pleases her). She'd been talking about doing a webcomic since the beginning of this year and after going to A-kon in Texas and meeting Doug Stanworth and Matt Hermes we decided to start. Mercs is our first longrunning, but I've written about 60 pages for one called "Jamon" but only like 5 of them have been drawn and no intention is made to do more in the future.

I hope that's satisfactory? X__x though I don't think anyone really cares since I'm still small time. One day though, we'll make it big. Til then I'll sleep on the couch and mooch. Ah, the artist's dream.

The idea of writing a serious super hero comic with UK characters has probably been in the back of mind since ... oooh, forever! Like a lot of UK writers and artists, I guess, I was very conscious even as a kid that super heroes were almost exclusively US-based and the few attempts to do something elsewhere were either very poor and/or - more often than not - a spoof of the genre.

I didn't really start putting ideas on paper, however, until about 2002. The first draft of the script for Shades was written in 2003 and the artwork started early in 2004.

(And we're still only half-way through!)

A lot of characters in penis come from other stuff I was working on where they were just background characters. Using penis lets me do stuff that I couldn't do with a more serious work.

I came up with mine mid-summer last year - I would've let them stew for a little longer, but my comic started as a school-project, so I couldn't very well wait. (It wasn't an art-project, but rather a part of a course devoted specifically to large, time-consuming projects - it's a long story, and you're not interested.)
The Continued Misadventures of Bonebird - a poor bird's quest for the ever-elusive and delicious apples.

Nadya's idea was born about a half year ago. :-)

It began to snowball as I got out of school for summer break.

Nadya- a tale about what happens to SOME of us when we die.

Currently: Nadya is awake and asking more relevant questions.

Aurora was a character I created fourteen years ago, for a small illustrated fanzine in 1993. As I originally conceived her, she was in her early Thirties, and even heavier than she is now in her present form. I may eventually republish the original, which was illustrated prose. What you see of Aurora now is actually a prequel. (Yeah, I know, prequels are detestable--but only in the movies.)

I see Aurora as a long-term character who eventually aspires to the throne, not unlike Robert E. Howard's Conan the Cimmerian.

Always had the characters, they've been given different names and been placed in many different time periods and stuff but yeah, ever since I was a wee little tyke lol. The actual plot of the story... hm... maybe 2003 when I first came up with 'if vampires are soul-less then wouldn't their souls get reincarnated? what if they met their reincarnation?' and that's actually gonna have to be made into another story now XD

George the Dragon was born right after I got married. I remember that because prior to getting married my dry erase board was dedicated to my wedding countdown. Then I got married and didn't have anything new to put up so I drew a Dragon in armor set out to slay a fire breathing human. So that puts the date right around the end of May 2004. That makes him 3 and a half years old!
Find out what George is up to:

I've been developing ideas on stuff for years. Since I first got into comic books years ago I'd come up with whacky ideas for superheroes. Some of thats been used in penis or other comics I've been working on. I'd say I really didn't get started developing and writing my ideas until around ninety eight. It wasn't until 2001 that I got to doing web comics, and 2004 when I started doing penis. A lot of stuff I came up with just as a stand in or minor character. I thought "these guys need time in the spotlight, I could do a lot of good with stuff like this."

I take a lot of notepads or composition books with me to write notes or draw stuff with. If I'm low on ideas, I can just pull out a notebook and find something to use.

Of Snakes and Apples has been around, or at least the story ideas with all my notes, since I was 15 (1995). I had to wait until my art was good enough to do the story justice.

Beyond the Pale was thought up last year, based on a D&D campaign that we are STILL playing, lol.

Kenyagi is based on a dream I had last year, during the summer.

Stupidity in the Right Ear was dreamed up by me and a friend earlier this year, around January...I think, whilst swapping funny call center stories.

Telltale Leaf was created the morning I drew it, a week ago last Sunday.
