The wii has less potential than many people give it credit for. It's not so much that people don't take advantage of the "potential" of the system, it's that the wonderful abilities Nintendo originally advertised simply aren't there and Nintendo doesn't do shit to help developers take advantage of what little is there.
Yeah, we bought a Wii and six games, and after a day of playing, we never touched it again. Which might be why, six months later, we traded all that in for a PS3. We only had to pay $80. It was great. And the PS3 is so much more useful, what with the blu-ray player and all. ...And the PS3 controllers do the same thing as the Wii remotes now.
Anyway, I've been enjoying the hell out of Rockband . It doesn't really look next-gen, but it's a really smart game. When you sing into the microphone, it recognizes the sound tone of your voice. When you tap on the drums, it recognizes that. The guitar is pretty damn realistic. ....It's just a very fun game, and really worth the money.
