Which next-gen video game do you think is the best so far?

I think Resident Evil 5 looks like the best shooter game for the Xbox360.

Ooooh. Tough one.
I'd have to say Call Of Duty 4. With Overlord coming in close second. Very close. I was going to say joint first, but Overlord had more frustrating bits than COD4.

This question is a bit too general.
But if we're just talking about shooters here, I'm gunning for Call of Duty 4.
It has a solid single player campaign and the online gameplay is really great. With all the ranks and leveling, COD4 will last a long time.

In less than a month I'll say MGS4 but for now I'll say none since I haven't played it.
But... I guess the CoD4 campaign was captivating and let's not forget about GTA4 who has already broken records for being bigger than Jesus.

I was thinking of GTA4 as well, but I just enjoyed COD4 and Overlord a lot more. Mostly because of the vehicle segments.
Fuck them. Seriously.

I've got a Wii, and while it has great games like Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Galaxy, they don't really feel "next gen". More like just better versions of last gen games. Not that that's a bad thing, but it feels odd calling them bext next-gen game, when the only next-gennish thing about them is the graphics and amount of content.

I'm wondering when we get to stop calling the current crop of consoles "next-gen". Are they "current-gen" yet? We're not really playing the PS2 anymore are we? I haven't turned my Gamecube on since last summer.
I can't really choose a "best" game for the Xbox360 and PS3. The ones I'm excited for aren't out yet. Plus, I'm a weirdo and I don't really get into GTA, Halo, or Devil May Cry. I've played several fun games on the Wii, but like Inkmonkey, I don't consider the Wii "next-gen" based on its hardware restrictions.
EDIT: I sure did enjoy Dead Rising, though. And Rock Band has been pretty fun.

It's pretty close. Replacing button presses with flicks of the wrist doesn't change game play. In fact, most of your Nintendo games play just like they did last gen and their "innovative" games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit are just copies of another company's system/games. It's kind of sad that the most original game I've seen on the system came out of EA.
While I like the atmosphere created by the new GTA, the only game I have so far consistently come back to is Earth Defense Force 2017. It's not exactly the best representation of "next gen", though. Still it is some good mindless fun when all you want to do is gun down hordes of giant insects and robots in a fully destructable city environment. It supports two player co-op through split screen, has far too many weapons to choose from, and has five difficulty levels which seem to be pretty spot on for how hard they are ranging from the easy setting which is the expected cakewalk, to the hardest setting which actually requires a bit of strategy and planning (as well as some skill) to get through.

The Wii has a lot more potential for originality than the consoles though. The problem is that no one is taking advantage of that potential.

The wii has less potential than many people give it credit for. It's not so much that people don't take advantage of the "potential" of the system, it's that the wonderful abilities Nintendo originally advertised simply aren't there and Nintendo doesn't do shit to help developers take advantage of what little is there.

Or taking advantage of it improperly. You always hear developers whining about how they have to compete with Nintendo's software when releasing on a Nintendo system, but then they put out garbage like Carnival Games.

I think the Wii really does have less potential than people give it credit for (there will never be the 1:1 sword fighting some people keep nagging about). However, the Wii has a lot more potential than Isukun gives it credit for.

Maybe when it's free. Even at ten bucks it isn't worth it for a game that only lasts a couple of hours and is glitchy as hell. I'd rather be playing Zack and Wiki or Boom Blox.

It's 10 dollars, it rivals the production values of most disc games and I have encountered no glitches. is it a little short? Yes. But you're paying for installments, 2 is on the way.
Is there anything you like? Actually, going further, is there anything that DOESN'T make you complain?

I got clear through Portal in a couple of hours. Awesome game. Worth the money.
By the way, this is on topic... I think Portal was one of the best nex-gen games so far.

Except most disc games, even budget titles, take longer than two hours to beat and have more replay value.
Is there anything you like?
Read my previous post again, as well as the first post I made in this thread. Just because I don't like everything, that doesn't mean I don't like anything. In fact, I frequently talk about things I like on this board. People just assume that I hate everything simply because I don't like Nintendo's business practices or recent games. Nintendo isn't the only developer out there, though.

And did you buy it by itself or as part of the Orange Box?

isukunI got clear through Portal in a couple of hours. Awesome game. Worth the money.

I got it in the Orange Box, which when you consider it being one-fifth of the package, Portal cost me... $10! And when you buy it seperate, it's $20. But that only further legitimizes the $10 price tag for Lost Wind. That's not really what I'm trying to do though, since I haven't played Lost Wind yet. I can't vouch for it yet, but I don't think it should be written off simply for its short length.
I'm changing my vote for best next-gen game to the Orange Box. It's simply the best bang for your buck this generation. I'm still deeply enjoying Team Fortress 2.

I don't really consider all the component parts of the Orange Box to be equal value. Portal may be one of five titles in it, but it certainly doesn't have the same length or amount of content as Half Life 2 (or even the two extra chapters) or the replay value of Team Fortress 2.
Besides, I'm not writing it off JUST for its short length. The game was also rushed, leaving it buggy, including several known bugs that wipe your save files or just break the game.
I have downloaded stuff off of the PSN and Live networks before, and I tend to prefer spending money on games that have more replay value. Even at $10, I want something that I can easily come back to as a fun pick-up game (usually arcade style games). That's why I tend to invest in things like song packs for Rock Band or games like Super Stardust HD.

I agree; we've already preordered Force Unleashed and God of War III. Force Unleashed looks really cool. I mean, come on. You can take down a Star Destroyer with your hands.

Looks good.
But I'd actually prefer it if you could pilot the star destroyer and take out guys like him instead :)

For once I actually agree with you. *shocked*
Also don't you think it's ironic that one of the Wiis best-sellers Super Smash Bros. Brawl takes no advantage of the motion sensing capablilities what-so-ever?

It does to a very limited extent, but only because of a lack of accessible buttons. What kills me is their insistence on removing features and dumbing down new games.

Sorta like what they did to Soul Calibur and Splinter Cell: Double Agent is what I'm thinking. You'd actually expect the game to be better with motion sensin capibilities but instead the complete opposite.
Now to get back on topic, Resident Evil 5 still looks like an awesome next-gen game.
