At least you didn't finish prematurely.

I hear that's a problem for some guys.
lol!
Kristen Gudsnuk
well, was it a long comic or a short one?
Oh it was a reeeally long, thick, powerful comic... and oh so HARD to get through ;)

Not really, it was short and flaccid. :(
30 pages or so.
Kristen Gudsnuk
as someone well-versed in erotic short fiction, I can recommend the website literotica.com for some hilariously terrible/sometimes incredibly awesome stories.
Gawd that was terrible lol!

Zoe continued kissing and cuddling with my private parts while I laid back and stared at her butt-hole. The smell was not completely good. It had a slight funk. I liked it.
Ewwwwww! >_<

It's not just about length so much as it is about thickness... you know, expanding your characters, conveying important themes... Also, you've gotta use what you've got to the best of your abilities. There are some 10 page one-shot comics that are more exciting than an incredibly long, agonizingly slow one.

And impotence is an up-and-coming kink, I do believe. What with all the ED going around... (our fears turn into our biggest turn-ons, I read somewhere..)

hah, up-and-coming? what am I saying? every fetish has existed since the dawn of time, with the exception of those that require complex machinery, like car sex and cyborg sex. omg omg I actually saw this REALLY CRAZY AWESOME BOOK once, it was at a normal bookstore don't worry, and it was 'the history of erotica' and it had these dirty daguerrotypes, and victorian engravings of nuns getting it on, and tentacle sex, and reeeally old pictures... it struck me as funny, it's like, the very SECOND they invent a camera, what do people do? make porn. I imagine it must be pretty hard to keep in position/still while waiting for the film to develop or whatever.

Also I saw this book of cartoon erotica made by one of the creators of Superman! it explained a bit why Lois Lane's always tied up when Superman comes to save her..

That is a great line, I must admit. horrific, too.

It was about four in the morning and I do not remember what the moon was like. I think it was normal. Anyway, the werewolf had me against the side of the hotel. He smelled like a paper bag.

Two floors up was Pats room. I didn't call up to him because I knew that this would make the werewolf angry. At that moment he was just standing near me breathing heavily.

A car pulled up to the hotel. It was Zoe back from the bar. By the way she was walking it was obvious she had a good night. She didn't notice me, or the werewolf.

I decided to take my chances and make a run for it. I was fat and not capable of achieving much speed. The werewolf must not of even chased me. If it did I wouldn't have had a chance.

hah!

A guy comes on the forum looking for advice on his comic, ends up with a conversation about a girl with a funky butt hole.

God the inter net is AWESOME!

It was such a one-shot deal disappointment though... Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. I suppose because it was my first time, I really lacked the experience to carry it off, instead it all comes to a gooey premature end... Well you live and learn.
I think with some better writing I would've had more staying power, plus if I'd have been more inventive with my technique that would've livened things up a bit.

First times are always awkward, even painful. And in this case it's better that it was the kind of anonymous, spur-of-the-moment, didn't-get-your-name thing. Next time remember to build up the story first, and then when it crescendos and climaxes it's so much more satisfying. Really cathartic.

And 30 pages is pretty long... cause you know, your standard married couple averages out at about 3 to 7 pages, with updates only a few times a month...

I must say this has been an interesting thread to read. Very interesting...

As for the original conversation at hand. I used to track my page hits and what have you on my old site, which I owned and could modify the way I wanted too. The hit counter tracked everything from where the person entered from, what search strings they used and how long they stayed, even how long they were on a certain page. It got addictive looking at all the different states. I would be sitting there watching as someone moved from one page to another wondering what prompted them to continue reading a certain story. It was also freaky finding out that porn sites were listing my stories as a great read... there was very little sex in them. Guess they figured because it was written by a lesbian it must be porn, jokes on them.

The only reason I kept track of that stuff is because I wanted to know what drew them in and what made them leave. I've been told my work is a niche within a niche so there is no way I'll become popular off of it, but I'm not really interested in popularity as much as people enjoying the story.

After quitting for 5 years I discovered what was really important was those who remembered the stories and wanted more. I just started again in January and it is amazing just how many old fans are coming out of the wood work. I'm not talking about hundreds and to much it would seem like nothing, but those few that have been following me for 10 some odd years make it all the more worth while.

The thing I tell a lot of people to do is to start collection good comments instead of stats. Every time someone posts a comment that really makes you feel good copy it and paste it in a file for safe keeping. Then when you feel low about your story go back to that file and read over all the good comments that you've gotten. I find it a great motivator at times.

Well good luck to you and remember never give up for there is always someone out there reading, even if they don't say so.

You know whats depressing?
If I DID switch to anthro hentai, I would almost certainly quadruple my hits almost immediately!
Then I just switch my avatar to a chick with comically large boobs and I'd be in the to 20 in about ten minutes.

Damn it! I need to stop have principles! Principles piss me off!

It's not that straight forward... Try it and see ;)
You have to promote heavily, make friends with the right people, get noticed by the right people, get lucky... There's no set equation. And no one factor like having a great comic, updating all the time, having it be sexy or whatever... it all has to work together by chance mostly.

You're right of course. Well then I'll probably have another go at it eventually, get some nice, hard, regular comicing under way. Really push my limits and see just how far I can take it. And this time I'll make sure to build towards a nicely satisfying climax.

Thanks for that piece of advice. That's positively brilliant!

Oh, and I don't mind that this thread has meandered off into sexual material. It's all grist for the ol' mill. Well, one way or the other.

:spin:

(But by the grace of something or another, somehow have a knack for leaving 10 minutes before the cops show up. ;) )
