when animated people won't just obey. (show off your gifs!)

I think this belongs in here.

anyway.. lately I've been honing my gif-making ablities by trying to take good frame by frame screenies and turning them into steamless gifs...

but the thing is, my 3d avatars on imuv doesn't seem to want to obey!
like when I want them to just stand there, smile and blink... they'd just keep looking to the right, then left... and just keep on looking to something off in the distance, and then strike a few unneeded poses...
so in the gifs, they look shifty, or doing something..

<<== see how she seems to be looking back and fro, in a shifty manner? like she's plotting something...

<== oddly enough, when I changed my avatar from a sexy purple headed elf into an gothic elf that I use regularly, she seemed to mellow out.. but still not very good at obeying my desires.

<<==my current avatar so far, she looks so innocent now.

was actually gonna use this as my avatar, but dediced I like the other version better.

IMVU, an 3d chat progam where you can dress up and customize your avatar as much as you can. you can be a furry, an elf, an undead person and so on forth. you earn credits though the slots and viewing of the new pages, and then you use the credits to buy 3d scenes, clothes, skintones, hair and everything else you could ever possibly customize in an 3d chat.

http://www.imvu.com/catalog/web_index_new.php I'm AuroraMoon on there.

although be warned, there's a lot of idiots that thinks that imvu is an dating service or an cybering progam even though imuv is an 13 and over chat progam, clearly meaning that it's supposed to be an clean chat progam.

a lot of wtf moments comes out of that. I even started up an popuplar wtf moment thread here: http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=10505&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I have a whole load of animations I did on my sorta-homepage. They were all for an "I'll draw your username" thread on SomethingAwful though, so it was more an exercise in trying to think of something funny matching someone's random username.

Here's a couple of my favorites:
Classy Goodfellow:
Cubicle Gangster:
Dead Frog:
FishFishMonkeyHat:
GrimVonSponge:

Actually I have lots more favorites than that, but you'll just have to visit the page. T_T

here's some petshop of horrors gifs I made from the anime. I have to say the manga is better though.

Every teenage and parent's nightmare--alien rabbit babies about to burst out of an teenage girl's stomach! *although she wasn't really an girl, more like a rabbit*

Just thought this was a neat effect, so I made an gif out of it.

Anyone remember that part in Micheal Bay's The Island where a board crashes into a black SUV, crushing the front side of the car?

I loved that scene so much, I decided to animate it. Get this, that gif you see there was made in less than 19 minutes, from my drawing time and freeze framing the movie to putting it all together.

Adobe Image Ready (comes with Photoshop), is a good tool. I think Macromedia Fireworks can make them... Maybe even Flash? I'm not sure about Flash...

Ah, there's probably a lot of good free software out there that'll do them (GIMP?).

I think you can do it in flash and export it as a gif. I think the quality isn't as good though.

I thought delevopers of GIF making programs had to pay a license to Unisys? Which would make free GIF making programs a thing of nothing. I think that's why there are a lot of free GIF Makers, yet only trials.

Well, the best ways to make a GIF is using Adobe's ImageReady like ozone said.

I didn’t know that Myxo! Wow, the buggers :x PNGs are better in everyway than GIFs, anyway. Except for animations…
You can get Jasc here. It’s a trial I think.

Try reducing the number of frames and shrinking the dimensions of the image. You can also try reducing the colours.

Something I made as filler after I blew up my site.

Test of a composit running sprite, for an MMOG I've been writing.

Distracting Avatar Gif =D. The idea is it moves and -just- catches your eye.

A while back, I inspired a peacefull protest against avatar size reductions by making an avatar waving around a "bring back our big av's" sign. The requests poured in for about a week untill the rules where changed (by which time it was a NIGHTMARE to read the forum because so many people have such similer avatars). Anyway, afterwards I did some sign customistions. Now it forms the worlds most confused sprite picket line.

Eeehn, I guess so.

I don't have my usual sprite making toolset, but I'll give it a shot. Send me a description plus what you want on the sign over PM.
