If you click on stats and see pageviews, does it count any views by the author or just other people?

It counts ALL page views, no matter who they're by - be it the author or readers or anyone else, and it's also counted in 10s. So for example if you get 68 page views, it rounds it up to 70, and if you get 8 page views, it rounds it up to 10 (I think). And that's everything I know about the page counter, so hopefully that answers your original question and any others :)
