Anything with a good story line and great art. But, if I had to choose I think my favorite top three would be Sci-fi, Superheros, and "The Twilight Zone" type of stories...doesn't have to be in that order.

I'm not very picky, but I do have some preferences.

+Drama, but it has to have a really choice set of unique characters to keep me interested (ex. The Meek.)

+Historical Fiction, especially if it's accurate and really takes into account the historical/geographical context of the setting (ex. SPQR Blues)

+Generally anything quirky or cute that makes me smile (ex. My Cardboard Life.)

Transgender Romantic Comedy.

Examples in webcomics. El Goonish Shive, Misfile, Discordia, and Venus Envy.

Bio-punk: It's an subgenre of sci-fi and cyberpunk which centers around biological inventions, mutations, genetic engineering, and evolution.

TF transformational: This focuses on humans that turn into animals or animals that turn into humans. Can also include aliens that turn into humans. Werewolves stories can be included here too.

Coming of Age stories: kids and/or teens learning to grow up.

I wish I can find more good webcomics in these genres.

For the most part, I do like all genres but the ones I preferable like more than others are action and fighting, romance, sci-fi, and horror.

However, I'm not a big fan of strip comics but there are still some exceptions.

Enjoy... Las Vegas-y

Something I've noticed is a lot of people are dismissing fantasy or saying it is all the same and unoriginal.
Prepare to be shocked, I am NOT going to start defending that genre (even though I like it.)
The reason is that when I think about it, there are lots of comic genres that to mean seem all the same.
Most manga style comics, sprite comics, comics where someone magically turns into a girl and then provides fan service for 400 pages, to me most of the comics within these genres are just the same as each other.
I'm starting to think that we all see genres we don't like as all the same, since we dont enjoy them and so fail to appreciate their subtlties and distinctions.

And I like fantasy with lots of sword fights! Sword fights are cooool.

That's a good point, people should dabble more in different cultures. It's not that I don't like fantasy either, I used to write fantasy but I guess I just grew out of it (not saying it's childish or anything)

I've alwyas liked fantasy stuff, ever since i first played HeroQuest as a kid.
swords, knights, castles and all that good stuff, PLUS there is magic and odd creatures so you can basically make up anything you like.
I will admit, it does often become a bit stale, but the whole premise to me is inherrantly exciting.
*throws axe at Eraser after distracting him with that serious discussion*
